About This Pub

Ah, The Red House – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community spot, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the team there really go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, with that genuine warmth that turns a quick drink into a proper catch-up. The food's a real highlight; think hearty dishes that are fresh and flavoursome, perfect for a Sunday lunch or a midweek treat, and they've got some fun specials that keep things lively. It's got all the perks for a relaxed visit too, like a nice beer garden for sunnier days and being dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with the family or your furry friend. But, to keep it real, there have been times when service has lagged a bit, especially when it's heaving and they're understaffed, so you might end up waiting a tad longer than ideal. And if you're veggie, the choices aren't as extensive as they could be, which is a shame. Overall, though, it's a solid spot for a good time – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just maybe plan for a quieter visit to avoid any hitches. It's got that classic pub charm with a modern twist, and most folks seem to leave with a smile.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly warm and friendly, always making you feel right at home – it's like popping in to see old mates.
  • The food is spot on, with tasty options like lamb shank and beef bourguignon that hit the spot, and they've got some cracking specials to keep things exciting.
  • It's super family-friendly, with games for all ages and a welcoming vibe for kids and dogs alike, making it perfect for a relaxed day out.
  • Loads of handy facilities like a beer garden, free WiFi, EV charging, and plenty of parking, so you can settle in without any hassle.
  • They host fun events, like ABBA tribute nights, which add a bit of sparkle and make for memorable evenings.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes be a bit stretched, with waits for food that feel longer than they'd like, especially when it's busy and staff are short-handed.
  • The vegetarian options are a tad limited, so if you're after more variety there, you might find yourself sticking to the basics.
  • Occasionally, orders might not come out quite right, which can put a small dampener on an otherwise lovely visit.

Lovely local pub. I always enjoy visiting the Red House for the warm and friendly greetings we receive from Dee, Nikki and the team. They always make a fuss of the grandkids and dogs. Aside from a wide selection of drinks and food, the pub also offers a wide choice of games suitable for all ages.

I came with my husband for ABBA night tribute. Our meals were absolutely gorgeous ( lamb shank and beef bourguignon), served on time, hot and fresh. The night was lovely, good music and dance. The Red House should organise more nights like this. AMAZING!!!

Hello. We just popped in for lunch. A quiet and tidy pub. Plenty of tables and space to dine. We ordered from the menu Chicken Hunter and Mushroom ale pie with drinks. Whilst a limited vegetarian menu, the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was delicious. The venue was clean and not noisy at all. We could have a conversation without raising our voices. A very pleasant atmosphere. We will return. Thank you.

We went there today and there was one young lad waiting on the whole busy pub on his own with the manager strolling around the place doing nothing to help him. We had to wait over an hour for our food despite being told twice we were next. When it did arrive it was good (but wrong) but the wait was unacceptable. Hire another couple of staff or help him.

Food was fresh and very tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. Lots of chat. Helpful. Offered to take order rather than force an app on online order. Nikki and Maggi were a credit to your establishment. Looking forward to trying out the quiz night.
