About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Clissold Arms – it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a proper pub experience with a twist. I've heard from folks who've been that the Greek-inspired grub is spot on, with rave reviews about the roasts and small plates that make every visit feel special, and the staff are just lovely, always ready with a smile and a story about the pub's famous past with The Kinks. It's got this cosy, welcoming feel that's perfect for catching up with mates or even family gatherings, and that historical angle with the memorabilia adds a bit of magic to the atmosphere. On the flip side, it does tend to fill up quickly, so planning ahead is a must, and if you're watching the pennies, the moderate prices might add up for a full spread. All in all, it's a solid choice for a night out – honest, it's got that balance of great food and charm that keeps people coming back, but just keep in mind it might not be the quietest spot if you're after a low-key drink.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with delicious Greek and Mediterranean dishes that leave you wanting more – think succulent lamb roasts and tasty small plates like calamari and octopus.
  • The service is warm and welcoming, with staff who go the extra mile to make you feel at home, sharing stories and recommendations with real passion.
  • It's got that brilliant historical vibe as the birthplace of The Kinks, with memorabilia that adds a fun, nostalgic touch and makes for great conversation over a pint.
  • The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, perfect for a cosy Sunday lunch or even private functions, and it's open late most days for a proper evening out.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, especially on weekends, so you might have to wait for a table or book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • With moderate prices, it might feel a tad pricey if you're just popping in for a quick drink rather than a full meal, as the focus is more on the food side.
  • Being a bit out of the way in Muswell Hill, it could take some effort to get to if you're not local, though it's well worth the trip once you're there.

Superb Greek restaurant in this famous old rock history pub. The food is superb! The service is exceptional! And no, I'm not a friend of the owner more a member of their family. Nor have I been given any incentive to post this review. These are my sincere views based on several visits. Thanks to the whole team.

I've only been here for their roasts on a Sunday and can say I've never been disappointed. Tried both the lamb and beef, and both were exceptional. Great spot for bringing the family
