About This Pub

Ah, Gertie Brownes in London – what a lovely spot it is, isn't it? From the moment you step in, you can tell the owners have poured their heart into making it a real community hub. The atmosphere is just spot on; it's got that warm, inviting feel where everyone seems to know each other, and the staff are an absolute delight, always ready with a smile and quick service. I've heard such great things about their Guinness – it's spot-on, apparently, which is saying something in a city full of pubs. It's also budget-friendly, so you won't feel like you're splashing out just for a night out. On the flip side, it's not the best if you're with a dog, as you'll have to stay outside, and sometimes the energy can ramp up a notch, with a few tales of folks getting a bit carried away, which might not suit if you're in the mood for something more subdued. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts – I'd say give it a go if you're nearby, as it's got that authentic charm that makes you want to come back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely brilliant – it's warm, welcoming, and full of friendly faces, making it a proper spot for a relaxed chat or a laugh with mates.
  • The staff are top-notch; they're attentive and go out of their way to make you feel at home, whether you're a regular or just popping in for a quick pint.
  • They serve an excellent pint of Guinness – it's one of the best I've heard of in London, perfect for those who appreciate a good traditional brew.
  • It's open seven days a week until midnight, which is handy for a spontaneous evening out or winding down after a long day.
Cons
  • It's not dog-friendly inside, so if you're out with your four-legged companion, you might end up sitting outside, which could be a bit of a shame on a chilly evening.
  • From what I've gathered, things can get a tad lively at times, with some folks letting their hair down a bit too much, so it might not be the quietest spot if you're after a peaceful night.

My first time here I wish I came here when I use to live here. Excellent Guiness Lovely clients I’m so sorry I behaved in a manner that displeased your wonderful pub. I took my shirt off to show George my tattoos of the names of my children I’m sorry I spoke to your wife Hand on heart I wasn’t being disrespectful I would love to come back to such an Authentic family run pub. Please forgive me I’m actually OK Bless you for serving your community 10 out of 10 🙏🏾

This has literally got to be the best pub you could ever visit when coming to London! The owners have put their hearts and souls into this pub and you can see that when you go inside! The atmosphere, the friendliness of the regulars, the staff and even people popping in for the first time is second to none. Always treated in a welcoming manner from the staff and after your second drink you don’t even have to ask as they remember what you’re drinking before you have even called it! Best place for watching all types of sports on the quality televisions that they have and if there is a sport that you want to watch then all you have to do is ask and they will put it on for you! Live music every Saturday which it always goes down well. Possibly the best pint of Guinness you will ever taste in a pub!!! Thank you Gertie Brownes and keep the great work!!!

Just a really nice pub. Came in around 2 PM on a Saturday, there wasn’t a big crowd yet. While I had to sit out front because the place isn’t dog friendly inside, the bar man was just top and attentive when I needed a refill. Also, been trying to see where the best pint of Guinness is served and this place tops my list.
