About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Central Bar in Edinburgh, it just brings a smile to my face – it's one of those places that feels like a proper throwback to the good old days of pubs. The atmosphere is spot on, with 80s and 90s music pumping out, making it dead easy to get caught up in the fun and have a laugh with whoever's around. And let's not forget, it's brilliant value; you can pop in for a pint or a few without it costing an arm and a leg, which is always a winner in my book. It's got that rough-and-ready charm, full of characters and lively chats that make you feel right at home. On the flip side, though, it does get a bit noisy, so if you're after a quiet catch-up with mates, you might find yourself raising your voice a bit too much. Plus, while they've sorted the entrance for wheelchair access, there's no disabled toilet, which is a real pity and could be a barrier for some. All in all, it's a cracking spot if you're up for some energy and nostalgia, but it's worth weighing up if it fits what you're in the mood for – honest, it's got its gems and its quirks, just like any good pub should.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The lively atmosphere with cracking 80s and 90s music really gets the crowd going and makes for a fun night out.
  • It's got that unbeatable value for money, so you can enjoy a few drinks without worrying about the wallet.
  • As a proper old-school boozer, it's full of character, with plenty of engaging conversations and a real sense of community.
Cons
  • It can get a tad too loud at times, which might put off anyone after a more relaxed chat.
  • Not the spot for a quiet meal or some downtime – it's all about the buzz, so it might feel overwhelming if that's not your thing.
  • Sadly, there's no disabled toilet, which is a big downside and could make it inaccessible for some folks who need that facility.

80s and 90s music, unbeatable value for money. Might be a bit too loud for some folk. Loved it.

unless I missed it, there's no disabled toilet. I asked a regular if there's a disabled toilet and she said no. I can't use the toilets in there and won't be back as a result. I HOPE I'm wrong about this, cuz it says wheelchair accessible entrance but what use is that if someone in a wheelchair can't go for a pee! if you're drinking in a pub. you NEED a toilet, and the Normal toilet cubicles were insanely tiny even by normal standards and I need a proper accessible disabled toilet
