About This Pub
Ah, Shambles in Teddington – what a lovely little find if you're after some proper Italian fare without venturing into the city. I've got to say, the food here is spot on; it's all about fresh, seasonal ingredients that really shine, whether it's their handcrafted pasta or those traditional Sunday roasts that everyone's raving about. The wine bar is a real highlight too, with a cracking selection of Italian wines and cocktails that make it ideal for a casual catch-up or a special night out. The atmosphere is just right – cosy and friendly, with that historical charm from its days as an old slaughterhouse, and it's clear the siblings behind it pour their heart into it, drawing from their Michelin Star experience. On the downside, though, the dining area does look a bit worn around the edges, which might not live up to expectations if you're after something more refined. And if you pop in on a quiet night, like a midweek evening, the staff might come across as a little disengaged, which can dampen the mood slightly. All in all, it's a solid choice for us pub goers looking for good value and a relaxed vibe, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the positives far outweigh the niggles, and it's definitely worth a visit for a memorable meal.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with fresh seasonal ingredients from Italy and the British Isles – it's like a taste of nonna's kitchen with a modern twist.
-
They've got an incredible wine selection, over 100 Italian wines including 40 by the glass, perfect for a relaxed evening or trying something new.
-
The service is warm and attentive, making you feel right at home, especially with those thoughtful touches like recommending cocktails or dishes.
-
It's got a cosy, lively atmosphere with a nod to its historical roots as an old butchers, and the garden setting adds a special charm for warmer days.
-
Don't forget their online shop – it's brilliant for picking up pasta, wines, or even meal kits to recreate the magic at home.
Cons
-
The dining room is starting to look a bit tatty these days, which takes away from the overall charm if you're hoping for a polished spot.
-
On quieter evenings, the staff can seem a tad bored and distracted, which might make the vibe feel a little flat when it's not buzzing.

We had a delightful evening, thank you.
As it was a Wednesday it was very quiet, which was fine. The dining room is fine, maybe looking a bit tatty these days. And the staff with it being quiet leaned about looking a bit bored which was distracting.
The bar looks much nicer. However the waitress was lovely and not overpowering as they can be sometimes. I absolutely hate that. Food is so expensive that we wouldn’t go very often but it is beautifully prepared and delicious. A particular high light was the Shambolini loved that, and that they have 40 wines by the glass. So I was able to choose an absolutely delicious wine. Loved that. The place is a Teddington Pillar so we should all support it. Tiramisu was a little disappointing, a bit watery. I should have tried something more adventurous. Spotted bottles of Negroni above the bar that they prepare themselves. Put that in my minds lock box for Xmas presents.
Delicious food & excellent friendly, considerate service! So lucky to have this great local restaurant to be able to relax and enjoy the great ambiance.
Great online shop too!
We recently had a lovely dinner at Shambles! The food was delicious—fresh, seasonal, and full of flavour. The service was warm and attentive, and the cozy garden setting added a special charm. A hidden gem in Teddington, perfect for a relaxed and memorable evening. Highly recommend!
Excellent as always, I never expect anything less from Shambles. It's my absolute very place to go as a treat. This year was the first year we've ever gone out for Christmas dinner, and we're so glad we did. The food was incredible, and such a good variety of choice (we really liked that we didn't have to pre order) all of the staff were welcoming and lovely. We appreciate what it's like to work Christmas day (having done so many Christmas' ourselves) so we understand and really do appreciate how welcoming you all are.
What a wonderful authentic Italian experience! We had dinner there with friends by the fireplace in January and it warmed our hearts. The cocktails were incredible. I highly recommend the Passionfruit Martini! The food was elegant and authentic. Again I would recommend the slow cooked beef, or the steak… The quality of the meat was beautiful. My husband had the calamari and he said it was the best he has ever had. And for desert we had the most spectacular Bombardino, an Italian eggnog, with home-made Cannolo and Amaretti biscuits which melted in our mouths, left us wanting to come back again! Just wonderful.
