About This Pub

Oh, The Bull's Head is one of those pubs that really hits the spot – you know, the kind where you walk in and instantly feel at ease with its rustic charm, from the open fires to the comfy seating and all those little touches like fresh flowers. I've got to say, the food stands out; folks rave about the fresh ingredients and how they whip up classics like roasts or risottos with a modern edge, and it's clear from the buzz that it's a hit for everything from family dinners to a quick breakfast. The team there are brilliant, always cheerful and ready to sort you out, whether you're with the little ones or your furry companion, which makes it feel so inclusive. On the downside, it does tend to fill up quickly, especially on weekends, so planning ahead is a must to nab a table. And while the prices are fair for what you get, they might add up if you're treating a big group, but honestly, it's worth it for the experience. All in all, if you're after a proper pub with great grub and a welcoming vibe, this one's a real winner in the area – I'd definitely recommend popping in for a pint and a chat.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is fresh and absolutely delicious, with a fantastic variety of menus that blend classic British dishes with some exotic twists – perfect for a satisfying meal.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always going the extra mile to accommodate families, kids, and even dogs, making it feel like a proper community spot.
  • It's got that charming traditional pub atmosphere with open fires, cosy nooks, and a buzzy vibe in the bar area, ideal for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
  • They offer a great selection of cask ales and drinks, plus fun events like wine tastings, which add a bit of excitement to the usual pub visit.
  • The place is well-managed and open every day, with reasonable prices that don't break the bank for a solid night out.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy at peak times, so you might need to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • Being in a more rural spot, it could feel a tad out of the way if you're not local, though that's part of its charm for some.

Came here for breakfast with my younger daughter. We both had the Full English washed down with a teapot of English breakfast tea. The quality of each component of the breakfast was top notch. The service was perfect and there was a buzz around the place with the number of fellow diners. You should definitely pop in for a breakfast. Highly recommended by both me and my daughter. So it’s judging time by my two daughters and I for the best Full English Breakfast in the area. The Bulls Head Mottram is one of 12 finalists having made the grade following our previous visit. It should come as no surprise that today’s offering hit the mark yet again. The cooked breakfasts were marvellous. The sausage today was particularly tasty. This is the most expensive breakfasts so far in our journey but well worth it as the setting atmosphere and service were just right. Well done everybody.

I was truly impressed by the meal here. I stopped by for dinner on my way back to the accommodation, and it was absolutely delicious! The pumpkin barley risotto had crispy sage and roasted pumpkin seeds, and the mixed salad was incredibly fresh with a variety of vegetables, fruits, and pickles. The sticky toffee pudding was so good too. The presentation was also beautiful, and this might have been the best meal I’ve had on this UK trip. Thank you, chef!
