About This Pub
Ah, The Bridge – it's one of those classic English pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air in leafy Barnes, you know? From what I've gathered from folks who've been, it's brilliant for nipping in for a leisurely lunch or settling in for a cosy dinner by the fire, especially with their renowned Sunday roasts and that tempting array of local ales. The walled garden is an absolute highlight, perfect for gatherings or just chilling out, and if you're after a stay, the boutique rooms sound like a real treat with their comfy beds and thoughtful extras. The staff are genuinely welcoming, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. But let's be straight, it's not all perfect – there've been a few grumbles about the food not always hitting the mark, like that instance with the tough beef or sauces that overpower the flavours. Still, with a strong 4.4 rating overall, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a proper pub experience without the London rush, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe skip the roasts if you're feeling picky.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The pub's got a fantastic large garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun on a lazy afternoon, making it a top spot for outdoor drinks or events.
-
Friendly and accommodating staff who really make you feel at home, always ready with a warm welcome and helpful tips.
-
They serve up hearty Sunday roasts and a cracking selection of local ales and craft beers, which go down a treat with the fresh, home-cooked grub.
-
The hotel rooms are cosy and comfortable, with nice touches like great showers and unexpected treats, ideal for a relaxing stay in London.
-
Its location near Hammersmith Bridge is spot on, offering a peaceful escape from the city buzz while being conveniently placed for exploring.
Cons
-
Food quality can be a bit inconsistent at times, like when the roast beef turned out tough and chewy, which was a disappointment.
-
Some dishes seem to overuse certain sauces, making everything taste a tad samey and taking away from the overall enjoyment.

Lovely pub (with large garden) and hotel to stay in. I’d highly recommend staying here for anyone visiting uk/london for first time. Its location is perfectly placed to catch different faces of uk. Its right next to beautiful Hammersmith bridge. South of the bridge is an area thats like a small English village town with fine dining, ancient church, cricket and nature reserve, lovely cinema Olympic. North you’ll find all the fun, shops, arts, and entertainment of London accessible on foot from Hammersmith station, with half moon cafe for classic full English breakfast in a greasy spoon cafe. Easy train back to Heathrow too.
Rooms are clean and well maintained. Food and drinks here are served excellently by staff. I made a mistake with my booking and they helped me out with ease and care. Quiet in the evening for an easy rest and overall a nice quiet and friendly area to stay in. Food at the restaurant was good quality, we spent two evenings here for dinner and service smooth.
As visitors from Australia we had been eating our way through several London pubs and thinking that pub food here was very good…until our meal at The Bridge on 4 May. The roast beef was so tough we had to return it to the kitchen, and there was the same brown sauce used in everything - inside the pie, drowning the roast pork, drenching the roast beef. And the sauce left the same slightly bitter aftertaste in each plate of food, which is how you know it was the same sauce. After 3 weeks in London, at last - a poor and unsatisfying meal to undermine the pleasures of our day on that day Eat elsewhere is my advice. I can’t comment on the hotel.
Fantastic weekend away in London. It's a lovely pub with a nice beer garden. The staff there are very accommodating. Would definitely recommend 👍
