About This Pub
Ah, The Braes – it's one of those cosy pubs in Glasgow that just draws you in with its friendly charm. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the staff really stand out; they're attentive and create such a welcoming environment that you'll feel like you're among old friends right away. Whether you're popping in for a quiet beer and a read, or planning something bigger like a birthday bash, the atmosphere hits the mark – it's relaxed during the week but picks up a bit on weekends, and that function room sounds like a proper winner for celebrations. On the brighter side, the regulars add to the fun, making it easy to strike up conversations and feel part of the crowd. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; the function suite could use a freshen-up as it's looking a tad worn, and there've been a few grumbles about bar service not always being on point – things like unattended bars or mix-ups with last orders that might leave you a bit frustrated. Still, with its solid overall feel and that 4.2 rating buzzing about, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant and really welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The atmosphere is spot on – it's perfect for a chilled pint or a lively catch-up with friends, and it livens up nicely on weekends.
-
Their function room is a gem for events like birthdays; it's spacious and has been praised for making occasions memorable.
-
The regulars are so friendly that you'll likely end up chatting and making new mates without even trying.
Cons
-
The function suite could do with a bit of a spruce-up; it's starting to show its age and might not impress everyone.
-
There have been some hitches with bar service, like taps not being in use or the bar being left unattended at times.
-
Occasional slip-ups, such as chaotic last orders, can put a dampener on what should be a great night out.

Had my 30th in the function hall and from start to finish the staff looked after me and everyone who attended. The decoration and balloons were amazing 🤩

At a party in function suite. Badly needing refurbished. Carling Strongbow taps but not in use. Staff to go to main bar leaving bar unattended. Shouted last orders people up dancing came back to the table no drinks and chairs on the table. Wouldn't recommend to anyone!!!!
Nice place for a chilled out beer while reading a newspaper kind of pub. Bit more lively at weekend's but not overly so. Regulars are very welcoming & before you know it you will be sitting with new friends.
