About This Pub

Ah, The Blues Kitchen in Brixton – it's one of those places that really gets the heart of a good night out, doesn't it? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the food steals the show with its delicious Southern-inspired grub; imagine tucking into perfectly crispy fried chicken, creamy mac n' cheese, and that cornbread that's just spot on – it's no wonder people rave about it and keep returning for more. The atmosphere is another winner, full of lively vibes, strong drinks that pack a punch, and live music that gets everyone in the mood for a proper knees-up. The staff come across as genuinely warm and helpful, always ready with a smile or a recommendation, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming. On the flip side, though, it's not all smooth sailing – some have mentioned that food can take a while to arrive, which might leave you a tad peckish and frustrated if you're in a rush. Plus, if you're excited for a gig, it might kick off later than planned, adding a bit of uncertainty to your evening. And don't forget, it's shut on Mondays, so you'll need to plan around that. All in all, it's a solid choice for a memorable time, especially if you fancy good tunes and tasty bites, but it's worth keeping those potential hitches in mind to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – think mouthwatering Southern-style dishes like fried chicken, mac n' cheese, and cornbread that keep you coming back for more.
  • The vibe is spot on for a lively night out, with great live music, strong cocktails, and that infectious energy that makes evenings fly by.
  • Staff are always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
Cons
  • Wait times for food can drag on a bit, sometimes taking over an hour, which might put a damper on your evening plans.
  • Events like live bands can start later than advertised, leading to a bit of confusion and waiting around.
  • It's closed on Mondays, so if you're planning a mid-week outing, you might have to look elsewhere.

I forgot to take photos because I was too busy eating! Great mains, great sides, great vibe, nice cocktails. The corn bread, mac n cheese, fried chicken and gravy all absolutely banging. And according to my son they make the best wings...and he knows his wings! Will take photos next time.

Went for dinner here. I thought it was a bar/music type place but genuinely surprised at how good the kitchen is. I had a tostada, chicken burger and mac & cheese. I'll be back for some other dishes. The service was good but the food definitely took a little to long, around 1 1/2 hours from arriving to finished eating so be prepared to sit and chill.

Wow! Food was really good. Drinks were strong😍. Staff were friendly and attentive. Shoutout to our waitress Claudia. The best cornbread I’ve ever tried!!! Mac and cheese were amazing. We order the meal for 2 and everything complemented each other. We order buffalo wings for starters however it was a let down.

Great food and drinks with our server David. I would also say thanks to Alexia for helping with seats for the band upstairs. However the experience of waiting for the band to start when it looks like it was advertised for 9 pm they actually started at 10:30 pm and the reason there was a bit of confusion as we were told we could go upstairs and grabbed a table of chairs, but when we got there, we told we had to book a table which we asked a couple of people beforehand at booking and on the day when we’re having our food. I would say the drinks are nice. The food is amazing. The service is great however it was a too long of a wait for the band and I wouldn’t really go back again, except for the food and drink. Also parking on the main road ends at 5:30pm.
