About This Pub

You know, when I think about the Bluebird Inn, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a proper pub experience. Tucked away in Samlesbury, it's got this cosy, inviting feel with a log fire and areas to settle in for a chat over a pint. The food really stands out – we've got reviews raving about dishes like the three cheese pie and slow-braised pork belly, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients that make every meal feel special without breaking the bank. And if you're staying over, the rooms are clean and comfortable, even if they're on the smaller side, which is great for a quick rest after a long drive. The staff are the real gems here; they're always cheerful and ready to help, adding that personal touch that makes you feel looked after. On the flip side, there might be the odd little issue, like a minor fix needed here or there, and it's worth noting that the space can feel a bit tight if you're in a larger group. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a warm, down-to-earth spot to unwind, whether you're popping in for a bite or settling in for the night – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty classics like braised steak and apple crumble that leave you wanting more, with massive portions that offer great value for money.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home, like you're catching up with old mates.
  • The rooms are comfortable and clean, perfect for a relaxing overnight stay, especially if you're passing through and need a quiet spot near the M6.
  • It's a cosy, family-friendly spot with a great atmosphere, ideal for a casual lunch with a pint or a proper evening meal by the fire.
  • They've got a solid selection of drinks, including JW Lees' cask ales and seasonal brews, which really add to the traditional pub charm.
Cons
  • Some rooms might feel a tad small, so if you're after plenty of space, it could be a bit snug.
  • There are occasional minor niggles with maintenance, like a small thing missing on the tap, though it's nothing that really spoils the experience.
  • The operating status seems a bit unclear at times, which might leave you double-checking if they're open, but generally, it's business as usual.

Stopped hereto charge and grabbed a meal with mum and brother. We got the 3 courses each. Best braised steak my mam has ever ate - I've never been out with my mum when she has got steak and she's ate it all. She finished this without a grumble 10/10 We both got apple crumble which was beautiful. My brother got the bakewell which was delicious also. Good range of soft drink and craft ales! The rooms look lovely, for our next family visit we plan to book here!!

Excellent service at check-in and throughout. Room was lovely and clean, few out of place bits like top of tap cover missing but who cares about that level of detail this isn't claiming to be five star immaculate rooms. Room was also ultra quiet didn't hear anyone despite there being a wedding on. Our room was clean, fully stocked with water tea coffee and biscuits my only major criticism was the pillows were horrendously soft. Trying to get comfortable at night felt like I was playing pick a number pick a colour trying to fold my pillow to be supportive. We ate at restaurant had sharing platter as starter, burger, pie, 4* alcoholic drinks and kids meal came to £75 which is fine. Not cheap but not ridiculous either. We did use a ten pound off food voucher we got from booking direct online. I'd stay here again providing I could bring my own pillow.

Very good from start to finish. Welcomed by James and Heidi. Easy check in, room very good. Had evening meal there both nights and was not disappointed! Portions are massive and good value too. ( Try the three cheese pie- wonderful.) James and Heidi always seemed to be around and stopped for a chat. Good hosts. All in all enjoyed our two nights there and will definitely be back. Thank you.

This is a lovely place to stay. The room was small but beautiful with a lovely big shower. There's somewhere to eat and drink and the staff, especially the lady who checked us in, were really friendly and professional. We only stayed one night on 3rd May, but I'd definitely stay there again.

Warm welcome and lovely comfortable room and beds. All very clean and well maintained. Lovely dinner in front of the log fire. Have used before on our way south from Scotland as ideal proximity to M6. Would not hesitate to recommend. Phone for an overnight booking as good offers available if you phone
