About This Pub

Ah, The Blue Moon – what a gem in the heart of Cambridge! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its incredible selection of craft beers and spirits; I mean, they've got 20 keg lines and 4 cask options, focusing on local brews that give you that authentic UK feel. The live music and regular events, like their tap takeovers on the first Thursday of the month, add such a fun, energetic twist that keeps things exciting. And let's not forget the food – those sourdough pizzas are a proper treat, with heaps of vegan choices, making it easy for a group to find something everyone loves. It's got this warm, inclusive atmosphere where you can just unwind and enjoy yourself, and being dog-friendly is a lovely touch for those who want to bring their pets along. On the downside, though, it does tend to fill up quickly, so you might end up jostling for space or waiting for a table, which isn't ideal if you're after a quiet pint. Plus, the operating hours look a bit muddled, and that 'close' status is a bit worrying – could be a glitch, but it's worth checking before you head out. All in all, it's a solid spot for beer enthusiasts and social butterflies, but just keep those potential crowds in mind for a smoother visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with a huge range of craft brews from local UK breweries and beyond – perfect for anyone who loves exploring new flavours.
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere with live music and events, making it a lively spot for a great night out.
  • The food is spot on, especially the handmade sourdough pizzas from Oscar’s, with plenty of vegan options to suit all tastes.
  • Such a welcoming and inclusive vibe; it's a safe space where everyone can relax and be themselves, and it's super dog-friendly too, which is a real bonus if you're out with your four-legged mate.
Cons
  • It can get pretty crowded, especially during events or on busy nights, so you might have to queue or struggle to find a seat.
  • The operating hours seem a bit inconsistent from what I've seen, which could make planning a visit tricky if you're not sure when it's open.
  • While the drinks are top-notch, the website mentions it's currently 'close' – not sure if that's a temporary thing, but it might mean it's not always reliable for spontaneous trips.

Recent Reviews

It has come to my attention that I have not reviewed this incredibly important (not only to me, but to a lot of people) venue and pub. Let me be absolutely clear when I say, this is the most important place in Cambridge. It is a safe space for all people, where you can be yourself, and the only reason you might not feel that way is if being yourself involves being hateful towards others. It is unapologetically defensive of the rights of everyone to be able to come together, be kind, enjoy local music, drink an expertly curated variety of craft beer, and live safely. The bar staff are helpful and lovely, the management is knowledgeable and proactive, the food is delicious, the entertainment is wide ranging and inclusive. I love this pub and my love is based in all the ways the pub loves it's customers back.

Hosts outstanding live music and brings great vibes! Bar service was fantastic, friendly and quick. I didn’t eat on restaurant side but location is near a good high street with a lot of food options.

Very cool, hip pub, and it’s a plus that Oscar’s Pizza is based there too.

Love the Pizza and the atmosphere! The best thing about this place however is how dog friendly they are! I love being able to bring my pup with me when I go out to dinner. Bonus points!
