About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Distillers, it's one of those pubs that just gets it right for a good time in Hammersmith – whether you're popping in after work or gearing up for a show at the Apollo. The place has this brilliant energy, especially during footy matches or open mic sessions, where the upstairs room feels cosy and inviting with its own bar and stage. The food's a proper treat too, with fresh, seasonal dishes that go beyond the usual pub fare, like those mouthwatering burgers and steaks that leave you satisfied. And the staff? They're always up for a laugh and quick to sort you out, which makes the whole experience that bit more enjoyable. On the downside, it's a shame about the kitchen closing at 9 PM without any wiggle room – I've heard a few stories of mates being turned away just after, which can put a dampener on things. Still, with a decent beer selection and that lovely outdoor area for warmer days, it's well worth a visit if you plan ahead; overall, it's a solid spot for unwinding with friends, balancing the highs and those minor niggles to keep it real.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially for watching football or enjoying live events like open mic nights – it's a real highlight for a fun night out
  • The food is spot on, with refined pub classics made from fresh, seasonal ingredients; think tasty steaks, amazing chicken wings, and non-greasy chips that hit the spot
  • Staff are friendly and efficient, always accommodating with table requests and quick to serve, making you feel right at home
  • It's got a cosy, warm vibe with comfy seating, clean facilities, and a great outdoor space that's perfect for soaking up the sun in summer
  • A solid selection of cask and keg beers means there's something for everyone, whether you're after a craft brew or a classic pint
Cons
  • The food service shuts down at 9 PM sharp with no flexibility, which can be a real letdown if you're running late or the place is packed
  • That early cutoff isn't always clearly communicated, so it might catch you off guard and spoil the end of your evening
  • While it's generally great, a few folks have mentioned it can feel a bit rigid on busy days, leaving you wishing for more leniency

I went to 'Acoustify Wednesday' Open Mic, ran by Mike Gill. They offer an Upright Piano. This review is for the Open Mic and the Pub. The Session takes place in the upper room, it's big, cosy, with really nice seating, proper Stage, has it's own Bar and Bar Steward, too. It's a very cool but unpretentious Venue. Downstairs is thriving with Big-screen Soccer but the sounds cancel each-other out. There's always a smell of great Food as well! It's a pleasure to play here: it's where I played my very first Set ever, as a Pianist - couldn't have asked for a better place. Mike is a great Host, friendly, encouraging and funny, too! Music Makers and Music Lovers: Go to this Session!

Great atmosphere for football. It's a shame the food service closes at 9 PM sharp—even on a fully booked day. They wouldn’t take an order at 9:01 PM. There’s no flexibility, especially with such an early cutoff that isn't clearly communicated or easy to anticipate. — Response: Thank you for your response. On that day, no one came by, despite us having a reservation and the menus already set on the table. That said, I appreciate your willingness to make the closing hours more visible—perhaps even adding them to the menu? And a bit more flexibility in special circumstances would also be greatly appreciated.

Such a good venue to watch football, with drinks & food! We've been before to watch a match but never eaten here, they have a good varied menu and everything we had was so good including the steak, amazing chicken wings and non greasy chips! the team was accommodating on our table request, a super well run place, would highly recommend!

A fine place, The Distillers in Hammersmith offers a good range of both cask and keg beers. Service swift and sharp, polite and efficient. There is a burger menu with plenty of other options including all sorts for the grazers amongst us. A small beer garden area outside. A good place to visit.

My son took me to his local pub. Had so much fun doing the pub quiz. Lovely, warm, cosy and friendly atmosphere. Music is not excessively loud. Pleasant environment. Friendly and helpful staff. Impressed with the clean and tidy facilities. No sticky tables. Comfy chairs. I didn't order food as we ate prior. However, I was indeed impressed with the clean glasses being served. Definitely recommend a visit. 😊👍
