About This Pub

Ah, The Blue Bell Inn – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon spots that you can always count on for a good, cheap pint and a bite to eat without fuss. I love how they've got such a wide range of drinks on tap, especially those real ales that go down a treat, and the outdoor terrace is just the thing for a sunny afternoon chat. The place is massive too, with plenty of space to spread out, which makes it feel welcoming on a busy day. On the flip side, though, service can be a bit of a letdown; some folks have mentioned the staff seeming negative or getting slower as the day wears on, which takes away from the fun. Then there's the food – it's alright if you're not expecting anything fancy, but I've seen complaints about small portions, stuff that's not cooked properly, or even things tasting a bit off, not to mention the odd sticky table or grubby glass that needs sorting. All in all, with an overall rating hovering around 4.1, it's a solid choice if you're after value and a casual hangout in Scunthorpe, but keep your expectations in check and maybe check it out for yourself to see if it suits your fancy.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a budget-friendly spot with inexpensive prices, making it perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of draught drinks, including plenty of hand-pulled real ales that really hit the spot.
  • The venue is spacious and welcoming, with a large area spread over two floors and some nice outdoor seating for when the weather's on your side.
  • The food can be quite acceptable, especially if you're after something simple like a breakfast or a burger, and it's generally popular with the crowd.
Cons
  • Service can be hit or miss – sometimes the staff seem a bit down or slow, which puts a damper on things.
  • Hygiene isn't always top-notch; I've heard tales of sticky tables, dirty cutlery, and glasses that could do with a proper clean.
  • Food quality varies – portions might be small, and it can taste off or bland, like boiled chicken or tasteless beans, which is a shame.
  • The atmosphere is a bit lacking; it's quite dark inside and there's no music, so it doesn't always feel lively.

Food was spot on. Felt like the staff were very negative and didn't want to be there

The portion is small and the chicken was not well fried, it just seems boiled. The good burger tasted horrible, possibly old. The cutlery was already dirty and the glasses were not very clean either. Never come back.

Good little pub , had a few cocktails, service gets a bit slow as the afternoon goes on but the food is acceptable , prices are average ,don't expect much with atmosphere as no music

The Blue Bell lnn is a large wetherspoons spred over two floors. There is a nice partly covered roof terrace and an outside seating area on the ground floor. There is an excellent selection of draught drinks including plenty of hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. The ones we tried were in excellent condition. It has the usual Wetherspoons food menu, and the steak, burgers, and curry are very good value. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the pub is listed in the camra good beer guide.

Visited for breakfast and had the 'Large Breakfast', which was okay. The venue is large, popular, but quite dark. The service was decent enough, but some of the tables and menus could do with a wipe down due to being rather sticky. The beans also lacked any taste.
