About This Pub

You know, chatting about Schnapps in Scunthorpe, it's got that old-school pub charm that's hard to beat in some ways. The staff are an absolute highlight – they're friendly, efficient, and really add to the experience, making sure your drinks keep coming without a fuss. It's great for a casual evening with the beer flowing nicely and options like pool tables and music to get everyone in the mood. Plus, being open until the early hours means it's perfect if you're out for a proper sesh. On the other hand, it's a shame the place doesn't always feel as vibrant as it could; it can come across as a bit quiet or even rundown, and I've heard from a few that the crowd's changed, giving it more of a rough edge that might not suit everyone. Still, if you're up for a straightforward, no-frills spot with some history behind it, it's worth giving it a go – just keep your expectations balanced and you'll likely have a decent time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are really friendly and make you feel right at home, always up for a chat and serving with a smile.
  • The beer flows nicely with good service, making it a solid spot for a pint or two.
  • It's open until the early hours, like 3 or 4 AM on weekends, which is brilliant if you're after a late-night hangout.
  • They've got fun extras like pool tables and music to keep things lively and entertaining.
Cons
  • The atmosphere has changed over the years and can feel a bit rough around the edges now, with some describing it as a 'scally place'.
  • It often doesn't seem very busy, which might make the place feel a tad empty or lacking in buzz.
  • There have been gripes about the entertainment, like the DJ not quite delivering, which has let a few folks down.

Staff are great and the beer flows nicely. What else do you need for a pub in the centre.

Friendly staff, good service and usually a good show from the locals by the end of the night

This place has survived for at least 20 years in a place where other bars have come and gone. It used to be one of the best bars in the late 1990's. It's a proper scally place now though. Plenty of guys in trackies, trainers and hoodies who look like they have nothing to lose. This is a real shame as it has potential to be a great bar again. They have a really good sound and lighting system, decent DJ and good selection of drinks as well as pool tables. you can park for free fairly close by. I would suggest a change of door policy and tighter security and this place could be great again!

Large place but never appears very full of customers. Opened until around three am on a weekend. Have pool tables and music 🎶
