About This Pub
Ah, The Parkinson Arms – what a lovely little find if you're after a place that really shines for big moments like wakes or celebrations. From what I've gathered from folks' chats, the staff are just gems, always on hand to sort things out and make you feel right at home, which is no small feat when emotions are running high. The food's a real highlight too; those buffets sound spot-on, with plenty of praise for how delicious and well-put-together they are. And let's not forget the atmosphere – it's got that welcoming feel with cosy spots for a natter and a separate area for letting your hair down, plus live groups popping up most weekends to add a bit of buzz. On the flip side, it does feel more tailored to events than your typical Friday night out, so if you're just after a quiet drink, you might end up a bit disappointed. Plus, with no handy website or clear opening times, it's a touch frustrating to plan around, and it seems like it could be closed when you least expect it. All in all, it's a solid pick for those meaningful gatherings, but worth checking in advance to make sure it fits the bill for your next pub adventure.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant and go above and beyond to make events special, like helping with all sorts of requests and making sure everything runs smoothly.
-
The food, especially the buffets, gets rave reviews – think tasty spreads that leave you feeling well looked after.
-
It's a hidden gem for celebrations, with a lovely atmosphere, nice seating areas for a mix of ages, and a separate space for dancing or live music on weekends.
-
They've got a wide selection of beers, ciders, and spirits, perfect for a proper get-together.
-
The venue can handle larger groups easily, making it ideal for parties or works dos with plenty of room to mingle.
Cons
-
It seems more geared towards functions and events rather than casual evenings out, so it might not be the spot for a spontaneous pint.
-
There's no clear info on operating hours, and it looks like it might be closed at times, which could put a dampener on plans.
-
With not much of an online presence, like no website, it's a bit tricky to get the lowdown or book ahead without giving them a ring.
-
The reviews are a tad sparse, so you might not get a full picture of what it's like on a regular basis.

From the Bakers
Nice inside went for a works Christmas party, wide selection of beers, cider and spirits available. We had a buffett which was really good and a large dance floor. Would easily accommodate 50 to 75 people.
