About This Pub

Ah, The Black Swan – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to get the party going, isn't it? From what I've gathered, it's got this infectious energy with karaoke on Thursdays and DJs spinning tunes every Friday and Saturday, plus special sessions for ska, reggae, Motown, and soul – you'd be hard-pressed not to have a good time. The staff are dead lovely, always up for a chat, and there's a nice variety of beers to choose from, making it easy to settle in for the evening. That outdoor seating area's a real treat too, especially when the weather's on your side. On the flip side, though, the prices do sting a bit; you might find yourself thinking twice about splashing out on rounds, like those Jaeger bombs that one person mentioned as being a tad steep. And it's evolved from its old-school roots, so if you're yearning for a quiet, traditional boozer, it could feel a smidge more modern than expected. All in all, it's a solid choice for a fun outing, as long as you're up for the vibe and budget accordingly – I'd say give it a go if you're in Rugby!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially with events like karaoke and regular DJ nights that make for a fantastic night out.
  • Friendly staff who are welcoming and create a warm, sociable vibe – perfect for catching up with mates.
  • A solid selection of beers and drinks, giving you plenty of options to enjoy while chatting away.
  • Lovely outdoor seating area, ideal for a sunny afternoon pint or evening get-together.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a bit pricey, which might put a dampener on things if you're planning a long session.
  • It seems like the pub has changed over the years, so if you're after that classic, no-fuss traditional feel, it might not quite hit the mark anymore.

Nice atmosphere and the staff were nice and gave a very slight discount on multi purchase. The dj was playing good tunes relevant to most age groups and there is a really nice outdoor seating area. Prices very high tho and the deal they had was 5 jaeger bombs for £10 which still seems very steep, furthermore they didn’t even fill up the glass with coke it was only about half full but overall it is a good fun pace just a a bit expensive for not a lot of drink

I went with a bunch of locals that remembered the good old days of the pub and reflected on the history of it. Big changes apparently. I liked it. Not like another true true pub I went to but a great spot to drink a couple hours away. Lots of beer options, lots of folks drinking or have been for many hours :)
