About This Pub

Ah, The Windmill Inn – what a gem of a pub it is, tucked away in Rugby. From what I've gathered from folks who've popped in, it's all about that authentic real ale experience, with a cracking selection of beers that keep you coming back for more. I love how they've kept things traditional, with log fires crackling away on chilly evenings and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel like you're chatting with old mates rather than just grabbing a drink. The staff are an absolute delight, always ready with a smile and a helpful chat, and the place is spotlessly clean, which is no small thing these days. On the food front, they've got some proper tasty options like scotch eggs and cobs that hit the spot, but it's clear this spot shines brightest as a haven for ale lovers rather than a full-blown eatery. That said, if you're after something a bit more contemporary or a wider menu, it might not quite hit the mark – it's got that classic pub charm, but it could feel a touch quiet or old-school for some. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a genuine, unpretentious pint in a comfortable space; I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, and you might just find your new favourite local.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The selection of real ales is absolutely spot-on, with a fantastic range of hand pulls and even some cracking ciders to choose from – it's a real treat for ale enthusiasts.
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully traditional and welcoming, complete with cosy log fires in the winter and a friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Staff are incredibly helpful and cheerful; you'll get a warm welcome and spotless service, which really adds to the overall enjoyment.
  • It's clean, quiet, and has some lovely touches like comfy seating and a covered outdoor area, making it perfect for a relaxed pint or a catch-up with friends.
  • They've got some tasty snacks on offer, like excellent scotch eggs and delicious cobs, which pair brilliantly with the beers.
Cons
  • It might come across as a bit too traditional for those after a more modern or lively pub experience, so it could feel a tad understated if you're in the mood for something upbeat.
  • The food options seem limited to simple snacks rather than a full menu, which might disappoint if you're hoping for a hearty meal alongside your drink.

Great selection of beers and tasty cobs. I had a cherry beer that was gorgeous. Not a wheat beer or a dark beer like a mild or stout as cherry beers usually are. This was light in colour like an IPA day. It was the kind of thing you wished you hadn't tasted because you know you'll never get anything like it again. The pub building is really pretty too

Popped in here the other day and what a wonderful welcome from a very smiley Gemma. Recently moved into the area so still finding our feet, but definitely felt very 'at home' here .. gorgeous space with comfy armchairs sofas and corner seating and beautiful Art Nouveau/ Art Deco decor.. Will definitely be returning especially as they are showing the 6Nations Rugby 🏉 ! Haven't eaten here yet
