About This Pub
Ah, The Black Horse, what a charming little find in E17! It's got that perfect blend of city vibes without the hassle of heading into central London, right by the station and wetlands for a quick escape. I have to say, the staff really make the place shine; they're so attentive and friendly, it'll warm your cockles on a chilly evening. The cocktails are spot on, especially with those happy hour deals – two for £12 is an absolute bargain – and the pizzas are generally top-notch, with some cracking offers like half-price on Fridays. It's a spacious, modern spot that's dog-friendly and relaxed, making it ideal for a family lunch or a catch-up over drinks. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few grumbles about the juggle between takeaway and sit-in, with some tables up and leaving due to waits or mix-ups, and the odd pizza that's not quite cooked right can be a letdown. Still, with its solid reputation and those little perks, I'd say it's worth a visit – just go with an open mind and maybe check the deals first!

Cons
-
They seem to struggle with balancing takeaway and dine-in services, which has led to some folks getting up and leaving without ordering – a bit off-putting if you're hoping for a seamless experience.
-
A few mentions of pizzas not being cooked properly, which is a shame when the rest of the food sounds spot on.
-
It's card payments only and no AMEX, so if you're carrying cash or prefer that card, you might need to plan ahead.
-
Opening hours start a bit late on weekdays (from 3pm), so it might not suit those looking for a quick lunch earlier in the day.

They're trying to balance takeaway with dine-in, and not so successfully.
Seen two tables get up and leave without ordering when I've been there recently.
The last pizza I had was not cooked well.
Greed is okay, but it's not going to be at my cost. And there's plenty of good pizza locally 🤷♂️
Great pizza and starters, good quality produce and nice pizza base. I will come back for sure. They have weekly deals on take away so will try and benefit from these.
The Black Horse is part of a new housing development. Very modern. A Nouveau Industrial Chic. A very high ceiling with a suspended floor over a large part of the premises. A real fun place if you like this kind of thing (I do). Plenty of choice from the keg but not a destination venue for the real ale drinkers. A good place for something a little different.
Throughly enjoyed our family lunch here today. We've been meaning to try for a little while, and so pleased we did.
The restaurant was more formal than I anticipated with beautiful marble style tables, but the vibe was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were kind, attentive and friendly.
Food was great!! We seriously overordered as we got a cheese and meat slate to start then had pizzas.
The meat and cheese were authentically delicious (proscuttio/ guanciale/ mortadella/ parmesan) with fresh pizza flatbreads alongside.
The pizzas were varied and a great size with generous amounts of toppings. We took our leftovers home to enjoy later.
Will definitely be back- hopefully without the kids to sample the cocktail menu one evening!!
