About This Pub

Ah, The Bird In Hand – it's one of those classic English pubs that just feels reliably cosy, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff are absolute gems, always up for a chat and making everyone feel welcome, which really sets a nice tone for a laid-back evening. The food gets some proper praise too; think hearty options like steak pie that's spot on and won't leave you disappointed, all at prices that make it easy on the wallet. And if you're up for catching the footie or whatever's on, they've got the telly sorted, which is a bonus for a quick get-together. On the downside, it's a bit of a shame they don't allow dogs inside – that might rule it out for some folk who like to bring their pets along. Plus, if you're after something a tad more upscale for a meal or to woo someone special, it might fall short; it's more your straightforward pub experience without the frills. All things considered, it's a dependable choice for a no-fuss night out, especially if you're after good company and a decent pint rather than anything too fancy.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home
  • Tasty pub grub with highlights like steak pie, offering great value for your money
  • Well-kept beers at affordable prices, perfect for a casual catch-up
  • A classic spot with sports on the telly, ideal for watching the game with mates
Cons
  • No dogs allowed, even inside, which might put off those who like to bring their furry companions
  • Not the best for dining or impressing on a date – it's more basic and not geared towards fancy meals
  • Feels a bit standard without many unique touches, so it might not stand out from the crowd

Not a bad place not the worst I’ve been to but not the best it’s your standard bargain pint pub. 2.50 for a fosters although its not the best tasting but it will do its job. Food was nice I recommend the steak pie chips and gravy. Great value for money.
