About This Pub
Ah, The Bird in Hand – it's one of those hidden gems in Brook Green that really hits the spot for a good meal and a chat. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is spot on; think fresh, seasonal small plates and those renowned thin-crust pizzas that pair brilliantly for sharing. I love how they've got that homely vibe with terracotta hues and a central bar that creates a lively yet intimate atmosphere, making it ideal for everything from a casual supper to celebrating something special like a wedding. The team there are absolute stars, always on hand with efficient service that makes you feel looked after without being over the top. On the flip side, it's a shame they're shut on Mondays, and with only card payments accepted, it might catch you out if you're not prepared. Plus, the hours are geared more towards evenings and weekends, so it's not the best for a spontaneous lunch. All in all, if you're after a solid spot for tasty Italian-inspired grub in a welcoming setting, it's well worth a visit – just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely delicious, with standout dishes like the truffle pizza, duck breast salad, and crispy pork belly Sunday roasts that leave you wanting more.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel welcoming and personal – shout out to the likes of Noah and Malila for their top-notch service.
-
The atmosphere is lovely, with stylish decor, a cosy horseshoe bar, and a great spot for groups or private dining, perfect for celebrations like weddings.
-
It's conveniently located in the heart of Brook Green, near Shepherd’s Bush, and offers a mix of small plates and pizzas that are ideal for sharing with friends.
-
They've got a solid online presence and are easy to book, with options for delivery or call and collect, plus they're open most days from Tuesday to Sunday.
Cons
-
It's closed on Mondays, which might be a downer if you're planning a mid-week outing.
-
They only accept card payments, so if you're someone who prefers cash, you'll need to plan ahead.
-
The operating hours are a bit limited in the evenings and for lunch, mainly catering to dinner crowds or weekend lunches, which might not suit everyone.
-
As a moderate-priced spot, it could feel a tad on the pricey side for casual drop-ins, especially if you're just popping in for a quick bite.

The duck breast salad with and tender stem broccoli was delicious and perfect for a light supper. Bar staff (Noah) and Malila are great.
What a charming service with excellent food. I enjoyed being there with friends.
After having our booking cancelled by another local pub, we walked into this pub hoping for a table and were delighted that the Bird in Hand were able to accommodate. The decor inside is lovely, staff are attentive and friendly, and food is delicious. We had the truffle pizza which was 10/10. Desserts are also incredible - best tiramisu I've had in a long time. Perfect dinner - thank you!
We recently celebrated our wedding with a Sunday roast, and it was absolutely perfect! From start to finish, the experience exceeded our expectations.
The private room was simply stunning—elegantly decorated and created the perfect intimate atmosphere for our special day. The staff were attentive, professional, and ensured everything ran smoothly.
The food was just amazing. Every guest raved about the roast—the meats were cooked to perfection, the sides were delicious, and the portions were generous. It was everything we hoped for and more.
A huge thank you to the team for making our wedding celebration so memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend!
An amazing little pub hidden just a quick walk away from Shepherd’s Bush. Had a pork belly Sunday roast. Didn’t expect the skin to be so crispy and the veggies were delicious! I loved the Yorkshire pudding but it was my first time having it. Great first dinner experience in London!!!
