About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Bell Inn – it's one of those gems in the countryside that just hits the spot for a good old pub outing. I've heard from folks who've been there that the Sunday roasts are something special, with tender meats from a local butcher and all the classic sides that leave you feeling properly satisfied. The team behind the bar and in the kitchen really go the extra mile, making sure everything runs smoothly, whether you're just nipping in for a bite or hosting a family bash like a birthday or even a wedding reception. They've got a lineup of events too, from lively quiz nights to bingo with a fun twist, which adds to that community feel. On the flip side, it's worth noting that the hours aren't always as flexible, so you might have to plan around those early evenings mid-week if you're hoping for a late-night chat over drinks. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after that authentic English pub experience – affordable, homely, and full of charm, though it sticks to the classics rather than branching out much. If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go; you won't be disappointed, but do check the times first to make the most of it!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with standout Sunday roasts that feel like a proper traditional treat, complete with all the trimmings like Yorkshire pud and mint sauce – it's just what you'd hope for in a cosy country pub.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, whether you're popping in for a quick lunch or celebrating something special.
  • It's got a great atmosphere for events, from quiz nights and live music to bingo evenings, plus they handle bigger occasions like weddings with real ease.
  • Value for money is brilliant, especially with options like the over 55s menu at a steal, and the overall vibe is welcoming for families and groups alike.
Cons
  • The opening hours can be a bit restrictive on some days, like early closures in the evenings from Monday to Thursday, which might leave you wanting more time to linger over a pint.
  • While the menu is charmingly traditional, it might not have as much variety for those after something a tad more adventurous or modern twists on pub grub.

Had my wedding reception here and I’ve been blown away with the service, The day ran so smoothly thanks to the team, we had the hog roast and BBQ catering options and every single one of my guests has commented on how great the food was. We were lucky enough to have great weather so were mainly outside in the beautiful garden, the staff were all lovely and so very helpful, Katie the event coordinator is worth her weight in gold she had everything running like a well oiled machine I’m so glad I had her help! I’ve also been a few times just for lunch or dinner with friends and the food is always great, staff are always happy to help, the bell has such a nice homely feel to it I love it there. We’ll definitely be back, thank you all so much for making our big day so perfect 😍

Great Sunday roast, very tasty. The service was very good and friendly. Really enjoyed the lunch. Took back a piece of their homemade lemon cheesecake for Mum, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend The Bell Inn.

A small group of 8 celebrated my mother's 90th birthday at the Bell Inn. The food and service were excellent. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was well cooked and the menu is exactly what is needed in an English country pub. The communication with Tracey was easy. The team even took the time to put up some birthday decorations by our table. I have been there many times over the years and will certainly make a visit when in England next.

The Sunday roast here is really good! A very tasty traditional English meal with all the fixings like Yorkshire pudding and delicious mint sauce for the lamb. I highly recommend the weekend dish! We ate here a couple times this trip and played with our kiddo in the soccer field after dinner one of the nights. Great cozy vibe and they have a great bar area and senior lunch specials.
