About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Bell & Castle, it just feels like one of those reliable locals that you'd happily recommend to your mates for a proper good time. It's got this cosy, inviting atmosphere that's spot on for all sorts of occasions, whether you're popping in for a family Sunday lunch with generous portions of fresh grub or enjoying a bit of live music and sports on the telly. The staff are an absolute delight, always cheerful and attentive, and they've really nailed the food with tasty options that even include vegan choices, so no one's left out. Plus, with wheelchair access and that expansive garden, it's thoughtful for everyone, and being inexpensive means you can enjoy it without worrying about the wallet. On the flip side, their online info is a tad sparse, which might make it harder to check out the full scoop before heading over. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a place that balances a good laugh with some quality nosh, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone in Derby looking for that genuine pub experience.

Excellent pub, great for family gatherings, weddings, and funeral wakes! The food is delicious, and they even put on some vegan options for me! The front door folds back to allow access for wheelchair users and various accessible toy go to the left of the bar
Great bar and hosts, Angela and Seamus O'Dwyer. Still encourage local Irish people to bring their musical instruments, sing their songs and enjoy the craic. Shows sports on TV.
Great friendly atmosphere
The staff were lovely and happy, thanks
Fabulous choice of drinks & food was all made
The garden is massive, can't wait to go in the summer
I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Bell & Castle pub in Derby. This cozy spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a night out with friends or a relaxed evening alone. The highlight for me was the perfectly poured Guinness, served from their charming vintage taps. It’s a rare find, and it truly made the experience special.
The beer garden is a gem, spacious and beautifully maintained, providing a great place to enjoy a drink outdoors. The pub’s effort to broadcast the Olympics on large, high-quality screens was a fantastic touch, making it the ideal spot to catch all the action while enjoying the lovely summer weather.
The staff were friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe of the place. Whether you're a local or just passing through Derby, Bell & Castle is a must-visit. The combination of great drinks, a pleasant atmosphere, and excellent service makes it deserving of a full five stars. Highly recommend!

Just had an excellent family Sunday lunch here at the Bell and Castle.
Generous portions, all fresh produce. We had the gammon and beef, pork also available.
Apple crumble and cheesecake were our desserts. Service was fast and friendly.
We highly recommend it. The hosts are Shay and Angela. Pay them a visit, you won't be disappointed.
