About This Pub
You know, when I think about The Beckwood pub, it's got this charming, down-to-earth feel that makes it a great choice for a casual get-together or a hearty Sunday lunch. The staff really stand out – they're so engaging and helpful, always making sure you're looked after, and they've got options for gluten-free diets and a welcoming attitude for all. The food is generally spot on, with generous servings of things like crispy roast potatoes and well-cooked veg, and the bar area buzzes with fun activities like pool and live sports, which is perfect if you're up for a bit of entertainment. On the flip side, the outside decor might not draw you in at first glance, and I've heard a few tales of service getting a bit overwhelmed when it's busy, leading to waits or the odd mishap like burnt bits on the plate. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.3, it's clear that most folks have a good time here, and I'd say it's worth a visit for a relaxed pint or meal, just keep in mind it might not be the flashiest spot in town.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, welcoming, and ready to help, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in.
-
The food is a real highlight, with generous portions and tasty options like the Sunday carvery, plus gluten-free choices and inclusive vibes for everyone.
-
It's got a great atmosphere in the bar area, with pool, darts, live sports on the screens, and even more out in the beer garden when the weather's nice.
-
The place is well-spaced for meals, so you don't feel cramped, and the timing of service is spot on when it's not too hectic.
Cons
-
The decor from the outside can be a bit off-putting, and the facilities inside could do with some sprucing up to make it feel more inviting overall.
-
Service can get a tad rushed during busy times, like around 1pm, which might leave you waiting a bit longer than you'd hope.
-
There have been a few slip-ups with the food, such as burnt Yorkshire puds or overly hard veg in some cases, especially with deliveries.
-
It might not always live up to expectations for a quick family meal if things like hot serving spoons make it a challenge to dish up.

Brilliant food again, visited a number of time having Sunday lunch, burgers and other dishes all have being good quality and home cooked
Had a carvery, yorkshire puds were burnt and trying to dish up your veg was a challenge because the spoons were red hot! Good helpings ,but nothing special!
Asked them about gluten and dairy free options, and they gave me a delicious burger with amazing fries. Guy who spoke to me didn’t even seem to be on shift! Great place. It’s a bar, with comfortable tables, but can get loud.
Just had a carvery delivered, omg it was absolutely disgusting. Vegs was hard meat was the best part, no mash! Was that bad even the dog didn't eat it! Absolutely AVOID for carvery delivered.
Great food! Amazing staff, very friendly and welcoming.
Edited: me and my family revisited on two occasions since opening inside. We sat down for a meal in the restaurant area and it was lovely, the food was delicious and the timing was perfect, It didnt feel like we waited at all really. Also very well spaced.
The second time I visited was in the bar. Great atmosphere. Pool table, darts board and live sports, up to two channels at a time, 4 small screens and 1 big. The landlord has told me there is 2 more screens in the beer garden, I did not venture out as for the weather conditions.
Highly recommend a visit for yourselves.
