About This Pub
Ah, The Beacon Hotel – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local spot in Scunthorpe, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and their website, it's got this warm, community vibe that's spot on for popping in with friends for a pint and some live footie. The staff come across as really approachable and helpful, which always makes a big difference when you're settling in for the evening. They've done a nice job with the refurb lately, sprucing up the inside so it's comfortable and modern, and there's loads of outdoor seating if you fancy a bit of fresh air. Plus, with all the sports channels on offer, it's a top pick for match days – I can imagine the buzz when everyone's cheering on their team. On the flip side, it's not exactly the place for a romantic dinner or impressing someone new; a few folks mentioned it can be a tad rough and ready, more your classic pub than a fancy gastro spot. Still, for what it is, the prices are fair, and they've got options for staying over or hiring the function room, which is brilliant for parties or meetings. Overall, I'd say it's a reliable choice if you're after good company and a relaxed time, but maybe not if you're in the mood for something more refined. Give it a go if you're in the area – you might just find your new favourite hangout!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's got a great atmosphere for watching live sports, with HD screens showing TNT and Sky Sports – perfect for catching the game with mates.
-
Drinks are reasonably priced, so you won't break the bank on a night out.
-
The recent refurbishment has made the place look fresh and inviting, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating to choose from.
-
They've got letting bedrooms and a function room, which is handy if you're planning a stay or hosting an event.
Cons
-
It can feel a bit rough around the edges at times, so it might not be the best choice if you're looking for somewhere fancy for a special occasion.
-
From what I've seen, it's more geared towards casual get-togethers rather than anything too polished, which could put off those wanting a quieter vibe.

Went for a few drinks with work colleagues, and it has had some refurbishment work done. It was nice inside. Drinks were reasonably priced and plenty of outdoor seating.
Great atmosphere and staff friendly and helpful 👍Feels like my new local pub👍
The Beacon has changed a lot over the years and after not visiting for a good 2 years, I was very pleasantly surprised.
The new land lord / owner has done a great job sprucing the place up. Getting rid of all the traditional mahogany that was everywhere and replacing with grey paint which has made a massive improvement to the look and appearance straight away.
They have also added 4 massive screens all connected together giving something like a 100" plus TV for watching the games / sports / fights etc
I would definitely recommend this place again now, it has a great atmosphere, unlike before and the prices are good as well!
Give it a visit if you're around the area.
Sunday night karaoke is great nice pub friendly staff & people xx
Very friendly staff, good music and the locals are pretty good too. Without wishing to be unkind it's probably not the place to impress your latest date - a bit on the rough and ready side - but for a night out with the lads/girls it's great fun. Good prices too
