About This Pub
Ah, The Baum – it's one of those pubs that just feels right from the moment you step inside. You know, it's got this cosy, quirky interior that makes you feel at home, paired with a fantastic array of beers, including some brilliant local ones that'll please any ale enthusiast. The food's a highlight too; I've heard rave reviews about their pies and chips, which are hearty, tasty, and won't break the bank – perfect for a relaxed meal with mates. The staff are top-notch, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, and it's great that they welcome dogs, adding to that community feel. On the flip side, it can get a tad busy at times, so you might wait a little for your food, especially if they've just rolled out a new menu, and some favourites do sell out quickly, which is a shame if you're after something specific. All in all, it's a solid spot for a pint and a bite, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an open mind and you'll have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons

-
They've got a cracking selection of beers, including local brews that really hit the spot.
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant, always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall charm.
-
Food is spot on – think hearty British dishes like cheese and onion pie or steak and ale pie, all served up quickly and great value for money.
-
It's dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along, and there's a good-sized beer garden for when the weather's nice.
Cons
-
Food might take a bit longer if they're busy, especially with a new menu in place, though it hasn't been a big issue from what I've heard.
-
Some popular items can sell out, like those black pudding scotch eggs, so you might miss out if you don't get there early.

One of the best pubs in Rochdale. It has a homely feel, a quirky interior, a great selection of beers, and very friendly staff.
I had a couple of beers, and then the cheese and onion pie with chips and beans. The food was decent and value for money, and it came out quickly despite it being a Saturday.
Great menu. Great beer. Great atmosphere.
Just made a trip down to the Baum in the centre of Rochdale - lovely venue with a fantastic feel to it. Local brews on the cask line is always nice to see, I had the alchemist by Pictish brewery (a favourite of mine). The food was fantastic, I had the 3 for £20 deal on the small plates; the black pudding scotch egg, the ribs, and the smoked salmon and prawn. It was hard to choose my favourite of the three dishes however, I came to the conclusion that the black pudding scotch egg just tipped it. The ribs fell off the bone and were full of flavour and the smoked salmon and prawns I treated like lettuce tacos!
Went in for Saturday dinner. Fairly quiet , especially given the weather, good sized beer garden almost empty. Apparently this place has just changed ownership and got a new menu, staff were apologetic saying food might take a while. It didn’t really and we weren’t disappointed! Rag pudding was spot on. Excellent choice of beers. Free roadside parking after 6pm. Lovely old style pub, will definitely go back
The Baum is a cozy pub with wonderful staff and delicious food. Their chips (French fries) have singlehandedly ruined all other chips on earth for me. 😄 They are dog-friendly as well, so bring your pups along!
absolute gem of a place. has a really good vibe when you walk in and the food was fab. We had steak and ale pie and black pudding sausages and truffle and parmesan chips. they'd ran out of black pudding scotch eggs so we will be back to give those a go!
