About This Pub

Ah, The Bartlewood Lodge – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Derby, where you can pop in for a cracking carvery or a fresh pizza without emptying your wallet. I love how the staff go the extra mile; they're genuinely welcoming and make a point of chatting with everyone, which really adds to the cosy atmosphere – think of it as that friendly spot where you can relax with mates or the family. The deals are spot on too, like grabbing 50% off pizzas or signing up for rewards to earn a free meal, making it easy to keep coming back. On the food front, the carvery roasts and pizzas are generally spot-on and full of flavour, offering solid options for veggies and vegans as well, which is brilliant for a mixed group. But, let's be honest, it's not flawless – every now and then, you might get a dish that's not quite up to scratch, like a burger that turned up burnt and missing the promised bits, leaving you a tad disappointed after shelling out. Still, with its community spirit and those everyday bargains, it's a place I'd recommend giving a go, as the highs definitely outweigh the lows for a laid-back pub experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – they're friendly, attentive, and really make you feel at home, especially with families.
  • It's fantastic value for money with all sorts of deals like 50% off pizzas and burgers, plus rewards through their app that make every visit feel rewarding.
  • The food hits the mark with tasty carvery roasts and fresh stone-baked pizzas, perfect for a hearty meal without breaking the bank.
  • It's a lovely, family-friendly spot in a quiet area, ideal for a relaxed catch-up over breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Cons
  • Food quality can sometimes let it down, like that one instance where a burger arrived burnt and lacking in flavour or extras, which was a real shame.
  • There might be the odd minor hiccup, such as struggling to find certain items like toast at the breakfast buffet, making it feel a bit inconsistent.

We've been here numerous time and every time the staff and service had been amazing. Today we were served by Debbie again and both times we've been served by her she'd been great with us and loves spending time playing with our child. We will continue coming again and again for the service and the food.

3 of us today to try the breakfast, you get a good meal for the price, buffet style help yourself, not sure if there was toast as couldn't find any? But all in all a nice experience, the place itself is a nice venue in a quiet spot. Will definitely come back, in fact I am tomorrow for a Sunday carvery with the mother in law 😱😬🙏🤣

Have been coming here for breakfast for getting on to a year! Debbie a wonderful friendly service always makes us laugh! Brilliant staff ever since new management came in from the states. This is now our go to for breakfast and carvery’s! I wouldn’t pass on going here at all! Great value for money. The food is always piping hot and fresh and always re stocked. Also try their pizzas!! To die for! Thanks all for the lovely place to eat out and be around nice folk who always make me unwind from a busy weeks work!

Lovely carvery dinner!! Very tasty!! If I was going to be picky I’d say the beef had a lot of fat in with it, but the taste definitely outweighs that!! Service was perfect! Faye and Debbie are brilliant! Attentive to us as a table, interacting with our girls, really friendly and welcoming! Can’t wait to come back! Hopefully when they are on!

I ordered a pulled pork burger that was meant to be saucy and hot, my burger came burnt, my bun was burnt, there was no filling or love put into my meal and it saddened me. The burger was also supposed to have salad in and had none so was very disappointed with my meal. I paid £15 for a filled burger with nice meat patties that tasted burnt and stale. Not happy at all.
