About This Pub

Ah, The Barn Owl Inn – what a gem it is, tucked away by the Bridgewater Canal with those gorgeous views that just make you want to linger over a drink. I've heard from mates who've been that the food is spot on, all freshly made with local ingredients, and the beers are a cut above the usual fare. The staff really go the extra mile, handling a packed house with ease and making sure everyone feels looked after, which is just what you want on a Friday afternoon or for a cracking Sunday lunch. On the flip side, it's a shame it's shut on Mondays, so if you're popping by mid-week, you'll need to check the timings first. And while the hearty portions are brilliant for building up an appetite, they might be a tad much for some, especially if you're not after a massive plate – but hey, that's why they've got those smaller options during the week. All in all, it's a solid spot for a catch-up with friends or a family outing, and with such high praise from folks who've visited, I'd say it's well worth seeking out for a proper, relaxed pub day out.

Portions can be a bit on the large side, which might be overwhelming for some, like older folks, though they do offer smaller options on weekdays.

The food is fantastic—delicious and affordable, with service provided by wonderfully attentive and caring staff. My entire experience here was thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, welcoming place to relax and dine.
Wonderful pub right on the canal.
Staff were lovely and the place was really busy on a Friday afternoon.
I didn't eat but the food looked great. Fish and chips portions were huge.
Good selection of beers with a few cask too.
Was a last min decision to call in and get Sunday lunch..what a great choice, never been before but we were in the area!
Greeted quickly and although no booking, no problem. Seated and service was faultless.
The food was delicious and as far as a Sunday roast goes it was perfect.
There was a suggestion of Rhubarb and Ginger crumble for dessert..this was fantastic! A great suggestion and with custard made the meal complete.
The staff were lovely and very helpful.
All in all perfect..thank you. We will calling again soon!
Delicious food. 8 of us and food arrived together - everyone was very happy with their choices. Lovely service. A very busy lunchtime and the staff did brilliantly.
Lovely place, good food, far too much on the plate for mother-in-law and myself, but we would need to go there through the week ( not weekend) as this is when you can order the over 60's menu and have smaller portions.
Staff are excellent, as father-in-law had been very poorly, the staff rearranged our seating so that we had a table indoors, thank you so much.
The pods outside are ace, enough room for 4 to 6 persons to eat comfortably and a lovely view of canal and barges.
