About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Bareca at Bike & Boot in Scarborough – it's one of those spots that really warms you up on a chilly evening. I love how they've created such a lovely, atmospheric place with great decor that makes you feel instantly at ease, and it's brilliant if you're popping in with your dog; they seem to embrace the four-legged crowd. The menu is a proper treat, full of tempting small plates and mains, with plenty of choices for veggies and vegans, and those deals like the small plates offer are an absolute bargain. The staff are just top-notch too, always friendly and on the ball, getting your food out without any fuss, which is ideal if you're squeezing in a meal before heading out. On the flip side, it can get a tad squished when it's busy, so you might end up elbow-to-elbow with others, and I've heard a few tales of items not being in stock or orders not quite hitting the mark, like when someone asked for certain toppings to be skipped and they still showed up. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The atmosphere is absolutely charming, with a beautifully decorated space that makes you feel right at home, especially if you're a dog lover – it's very welcoming for furry friends.
-
The food is a real highlight; they've got an extensive menu with tasty small plates, mains, and even great options for vegetarians and vegans, like those new dishes for 2025 that sound delicious.
-
Service is spot on – the staff are friendly, helpful, and get things out quickly, which is perfect if you're in a rush or just want to enjoy a relaxed meal.
-
They've got some fantastic offers, like three small plates for just £13.25, and their Sunday roasts sound like a proper treat for a family get-together.
Cons
-
It can feel a bit cramped at times, making it tricky to get comfortable if the place is busy.
-
Some menu items might not always be available, which can be disappointing if you're set on something specific.
-
There have been a few slip-ups with orders, like extras on dishes that were meant to be left off, so it's worth double-checking when you order.

The restaurant itself is lovely, although quite crammed. Came into eat before a 3 hour journey back to Birmingham.
Ordered a vegan option that was never available. I had the Mediterranean veg pizza instead and asked for 2 of the veggies not to be on there however both were on there when the pizza came.
There was no check back done in the middle of our food so we couldn’t tell them the issue, it’s not my job to call out to staff.
The table wasn’t cleared for nearly another 15-20 minutes. The service was poor at best and the food is quite mediocre for the price.
The tandoori chicken pizza also didn’t really have any chicken on it.
The table we sat on was very small and overcrowded. Glasses for water and water just bought to the table, would have been nice to be asked although that is just an opinion.
It left no room for anything after our drinks and food came.
Also HONEY is an animal byproduct and is not vegan! Although it is labelled as such on the menu
A working dinner on a Sunday evening ... Bareca was the venue.
I've passed this hotel many times and this was the first time I'd eaten there.
The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a fantastic atmosphere. If you love dogs, own one or both, this is the hotel for you, as there were pooch guests galore.
There was a great choice of food including small plates.
I had chicken wings, ham terrine and a nibble of some baked beetroot.
The service was warm, friendly and helpful.
Bareca was busy when we there, which added to the atmosphere.
A lovely atmospheric restaurant with an extensive menu. The servers were very friendly and helpful. Including providing vegan mayo for one of our party. The food was served promptly and was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Needed a quick meal before going to the theatre, and this fitted the bill perfectly. Order taken and food served promptly. Great selection of tapas, all well cooked and very tasty. Lovely ambience, good selection of drinks, and friendly and welcoming staff. Will definitely be back next time we're in Scarborough to sample more of the menu.
Lovely place, first time trying it. There were a couple of items not available on the menu but the waiter informed us of this when he brought us the menus. The food was delicious 😋
