About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Premier Inn in Scarborough South Bay, it's got that familiar feel of a solid, no-nonsense place that Premier Inns do so well – think clean rooms with all the basics sorted, and it's bang in the middle of all the action, just a stone's throw from the beaches and castle, which is brilliant if you're after some seaside vibes without the hassle. Folks seem to love how quiet it is, even in a busy spot, and the quick check-in is a real winner for getting on with your day. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect; sorting out parking can be a chore since there's none on site, and I've heard a few grumbles about strict policies that make you wait for your room even if it's free. Then there's the breakfast – it sounds like it might leave you wanting more, with tales of poorly cooked food, so perhaps it's worth skipping that and finding a cosy cafe nearby. Still, with an overall good rating, it's worth considering if you're looking for dependable comfort rather than anything fancy, just keep those quirks in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The location is absolutely spot on, right in the heart of Scarborough near the beaches and that dramatic castle, making it a breeze to explore the area.
-
Rooms are clean and tidy, with comfy beds and nice touches like free Wi-Fi, which really makes for a relaxing stay.
-
Check-in is super quick and efficient, especially with those machines, and they've got handy services like free left luggage if you're hanging around.
-
It's generally quiet, even with seagulls about, so you can get a good night's sleep without much fuss.
Cons
-
No on-site parking is a bit of a pain; you'll have to sort out off-site options, which might cost you or mean a short walk.
-
Some company policies, like waiting for check-in even if the room's ready, can feel a tad rigid and frustrating.
-
The breakfast has had its fair share of complaints – things like overcooked or undercooked food, so you might want to look elsewhere for your morning meal.
-
A few niggles with the bathrooms, such as creaky toilets, that could put a damper on things if you're not expecting it.

The Hotel was “fine” we asked if the room was ready at 1:45. The receptionist said “the room was free BUT we couldn’t have it until 2:30! She said she was sorry, it was a silly company policy” alternatively, we could pay an extra £15 and have it!
Well Premier inn, your company policy means you’ve lost return trade!
The positive of room 123
Okay so it was a pretty central location, clean, tidy room, nice and quiet.
Now the negatives
The bathroom; the toilet well I and my wife aren't heavy by any stretch but the creaking the toilet made if you lightly sat on it you were afraid that you may end up going through the floor - shocking. The noisiest I have ever known in a premier Inn 😲☹️🚽 you have been warned!
Shower screen you couldn't move, it had dropped slightly on the non bath side so could cause water to spill on the floor - needs maintenance.
Would return to this location but not this room I'm afraid.
This is in a great location but has no parking on site but there is parking close by but you need to book it when you book the room when I tried to book just before the stay it was full and we ended up with parking a little further away but still not a massive problem. the rooms were clean the staff all friendly and helpful we had breakfast each morning and 1 evening meal on site. we will stay here again due to its location to everything
I was surprised at how quiet it was with the seagulls. Didnt hear anything. Check in was super fast with the machines. I love a premier in as you always know what you are going to get. They have a free left luggage service which was perfect for me as my train was later in the day. Right in the centre of all the attractions on the south bay side. Around the corner from the south bay tram leading onto the promenade. All the shops are just right there plus less than 10 minute walk to the train station.
Terrible breakfast. Eat elsewhere!
The food from the breakfast buffet associated with the Premier Inn was very poor, everything was cooked badly.
Nothing was ever available all at once.
The food was either over done or under cooked.
Every tea pot had the paper ticket from the stringy tea bag left inside.
No plates when the food came out from the kitchen then other guests would come back with there plates and take food from the buffet leaving again no food.
Nightmare of a place.
I'd strongly recommend eating elsewhere if booking with the Premier Inn.
Service was slow and you felt like a burden on the staff for asking for anything.
The atmosphere was good if you like people watching as there are people standing in the que on paused mode waiting for food to come out in turn causing a que because no one knows what the heck is going on.
Won't return.
