About This Pub
Ah, The Angel of Bow – what a lovely little find in the heart of East London! I've got to say, it's one of those places that really knows how to do pub grub right; their Sunday carvery and brunches are just brilliant, with juicy roasts and creative twists that keep things interesting without going over the top. The drag brunches are a hoot too, full of laughs and that bottomless fizz that makes for a cracking afternoon with mates. The staff are genuinely warm and on the ball, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. It's in such a handy spot near the Olympic Park and other local gems, ideal for a post-walk pint or a bite after some sightseeing. On the flip side, though, if you're thinking of staying over, the rooms might not live up to the pub's sparkle – they're a bit poky with shared bathrooms and the odd service slip-up, like not everything being spick and span. Still, for a solid night out or a relaxed meal, it's worth a visit; just keep expectations realistic for the accommodation and you'll have a whale of a time!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – their Sunday roasts and brunches are proper crowd-pleasers, with fresh, hearty dishes that leave you feeling chuffed.
-
The staff are a delight; they're welcoming and attentive, always on hand to top up your drinks or make sure you're having a good time.
-
It's got a fantastic vibe with fun events like drag brunches, which add a cheeky bit of entertainment and make for a memorable day out.
-
Location-wise, it's brilliantly placed near the Olympic Park and ABBA Voyage Arena, perfect for a pint after exploring East London.
-
As a family-run spot, it has that warm, community feel that makes you want to come back for more.
Cons
-
The rooms aren't up to scratch for a comfortable stay – some are a bit cramped with small beds and shared bathrooms, which might not suit everyone.
-
Service in the accommodation side can be hit or miss, with reports of unclean items like cups not being sorted properly.
-
A few niggles with things like the TV signal or hand towels in the rooms, which could do with some improvements to make stays more enjoyable.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking before heading over.
-
While the pub's great, it might not be the best choice if you're after a luxurious overnight option, as it's more pub-focused than hotel-like.

We booked a room for two nights. We booked for two guests. The bed was so small that it was really difficult to get sleep. The bathroom was common outside not en-suite. The service for the rooms was really bad. Our room cups were not cleaned even at check in. We were told that the cleaners would be cleaning the room the next morning but that also was not done and all tea cups beds etc were left untouched. There was no one to collect the keys at checkout and no instructions to drop the keys. My son stays close by so eventually the keys will reach them but for any other guest the keys would never be returned. Really not worth the price and would rather book a hostel at these prices which are better equipped.
We've been here twice for their Saturday Drag Brunch special! Genuinely for just £39.95 per pax, there was little you can moan about! The food both times has been outstanding! Simple British brunch menu done right 👍🏻 The drag entertainment strike perfect home run on both occasions. Highly recommend for a fun Saturday out!
We went for a mother's day drag brunch. The staff were very friendly, we never had to ask for refills, they made sure we were always topped up. The food was great. The drag artist was called ( that boy)was so much fun. We had a lovely fun afternoon. We even made tic tok. Would recommend this pud. We will all go back soon
Rooms 5 star is actually for the food, to be specific their Sunday Roast. I can see their ethnically Chinese chef did a wonderful job here, I’m not gonna lie, this is my favorite roast dinner so far in the UK, it’s just amazing, I can easily taste how he used some traditionally Chinese cuisine cooking skills and method from the roast, and it’s just made everything to another level. Well done chef!
Service has more potential though, I would love to see the guys behind the bar being more proactive such as passing me a menu after I sit down so I don’t have to come over asking for one after a while. Hence 3 stars for the service.
Another good thing about this pub is that they have a decent collection of whiskey there. And I had a fun quiz night, which i didn’t expect.
I have just spent the night here and I'm really happy - lovely staff members, very welcoming. Nice rooms. Lovely food. They delivered a little tray of breakfast treats to my door with milk.
My only suggestion for improvement would be towels to dry your hands in the toilet and the TV signal wasn't very good - otherwise, really happy with my stay and would definitely come back
