About This Pub
Oh, what a gem The Andover Arms is – it's one of those pubs that just wraps you up in its charm from the moment you step inside. I have to say, the food really steals the show; whether it's the fresh prawns with homemade pickles or that legendary Sunday roast with perfectly done lamb and veg, it's all prepared with such care that you'd think you're in a fancy restaurant rather than a local spot. The vibe is so inviting, with a roaring fire on winter days and a real sense of community from their events like harvest festivals and outdoor theatre nights – it's clear they go the extra mile to bring people together. On the downside, it's a tad expensive, so you might want to save it for when you're in the mood to splash out a bit, and do keep an eye on the opening times as it's not open every day. All in all, it's a fantastic place for a special meal or a catch-up with mates, but perhaps not your go-to for an everyday tipple.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely top-notch, with standout dishes like ox cheek, burgers, and those huge puddings that could easily be shared – it's a real treat for anyone after a proper meal.
-
The atmosphere is wonderfully cosy and welcoming, especially on a chilly day with that roaring fire making you feel right at home.
-
They've got a great line-up of community events, like life drawing sessions and charity fundraisers, which really give it a warm, neighbourhood vibe.
-
The service is spot-on – friendly and attentive staff who make every visit feel personal and enjoyable.
Cons
-
It can be a bit on the pricey side, so it might not suit if you're just after a casual, budget-friendly pint.
-
With varying opening hours and closed one day a week, it could be tricky to pop in spontaneously without checking first.

Really lovely pub to come to on a cold winters day. Lovely roaring fire.
Had great dinner here - started off with a pint of prawns and home made pickles. The pickles were a stand out!
Then I had ox cheek and my friend the legendary burgers.
Then pudding which are huge - could have had one between two!
Will go again - and must mention excellent service from Alberto. Super attentive but not too much!
One of my favorite pub meals in London. The food is ALWAYS exceptional and a great wine list as well.

Really lovely local pub! Have been a couple times since moving into the area and love it. The service is really great and friendly, the food is very high standard, and the atmosphere is like getting a warm hug from someone you love. A little expensive but you can’t fault the quality of this pub!
Wonderful homey pub with excellent staff. The talented chefs make miracles in the tiny kitchen/closet. The Sunday roast was amazing. Lamb rump with roasted veg and a house made mint sauce that is simply perfect. The jamon iberico croquetas and the gazpacho (a new addition to the menu) were absolutely delicious, as well. A true hidden gem.
We had a fantastic Christmas lunch at the Andover Arms in 2022. The staff were warm and welcoming and the food was fantastic. Five courses, after a glass of champagne was the perfect way to celebrate Christmas. We were never rushed, the courses came at perfect intervals and the atmosphere was intimate yet nicely lively. Thank you for a fabulous afternoon.
