About This Pub
Ah, The Anchor Digbeth, what a gem it is! I've got to say, from what I've heard and seen, it's one of those pubs that just nails the basics while adding a touch of character – think original Victorian charm mixed with a friendly buzz that makes you want to linger. The drinks are spot on; they've got this fantastic range of local brews and classics like Guinness that's always poured just right, and at prices that won't leave you shocked. The staff really go the extra mile with their service, making everyone feel welcome, whether you're popping in for a quick one or settling in for the evening with some live music or a quiz. It's got outdoor seating for those sunny days and a cosy lounge inside for when the weather turns, plus it's a lovely inclusive space that's LGBT friendly and free from the usual footie madness. On the flip side, though, it doesn't seem to have much going on food-wise, so if you're peckish, you might end up nipping out for a bite. And let's be honest, getting there in Digbeth can be a faff if you're not local, with the late starts meaning it's not ideal for a morning tipple. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area, as it's got that perfect balance of tradition and fun that keeps people coming back.
Pros and Cons

-

-
They're always hosting fun events like music nights and quizzes, and it's a welcoming spot that's LGBT friendly with a great crowd.
-
Prices are sensible and affordable, especially for well-kept drinks like Guinness, so you can enjoy a proper pint without worrying about the cost.
Cons
-
It doesn't seem to offer much in the way of food options, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to head elsewhere first.
-
Opening from midday might be a bit late for early risers, and the location in Digbeth could be tricky if you're not familiar with the area or driving in.

Been meaning to use this pub for 40-odd years, but life sort of got in the way. Anyway, popped in a couple of weeks ago and it didn’t disappoint. Great service and a very pleasant crowd. The Guinness is very well kept and sensibly priced. If I lived closer, this would definitely be my local.
I always enjoy coming to the anchor - the staff are super friendly, great service, good choice of beer on tap, and the cocktails are great. There's outside seating and a cosy lounge as well. Really nice vibes, and good music in the bar.
Have frequented this proper pub on many occasions and often take out of town guests here.

Has a pool table, courtyard garden, benches outdoor which get the afternoon sun and many books you can hide away with friends for a drink. A must visit for Digbeth
