About This Pub

Ah, The Alma in Worcester is one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this welcoming atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel at ease, and they've nailed that balance of showing sports without blasting the sound, so you can actually have a good natter with your friends. The drinks menu boasts a decent array of beers, ciders, and wines that folks seem to enjoy, and that garden out back sounds like a real treat – a quiet spot to escape the hustle and bustle. On the flip side, a couple of people mentioned the beer choices could be more varied, and it might not stand out if you're right next to another popular spot. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, especially if you're after that community feel, but it's worth keeping in mind those little niggles to set your expectations right.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a solid selection of beers, ciders, lagers, and wines, with plenty of options to suit different tastes.
  • It's a fantastic spot for watching sports on TV, but they keep the sound low so you can still chat away with your mates.
  • The garden at the back is a lovely hidden gem – a peaceful oasis in the city, perfect for a relaxed drink on a sunny day.
  • The atmosphere is warm and cosy, like a proper old pub where you can unwind and enjoy good company.
Cons
  • The beer selection isn't the most extensive, so if you're after something really unique, you might find it a bit lacking.
  • It's compared to other nearby spots in some reviews, which might make it feel less of a go-to if there's competition across the road.
  • The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking before heading out to avoid disappointment.

Proper old pub, good choice of ciders, lagers and beers. Shows sports but with sound levels low so you can still have a conversation, Marque and garden to the rear. Staff very friendly

It's quite nice in here. Not a great beer selection but they had a decent IPA considering it was Greene King. The lay out was nice, TVs and dart boards littered around. If it wasn't across the road from the Firefly I'd drop in more often.

Great ambience; good selection of beers; it's clean which is obviously important in these strange times. There is a great garden at the back that is like a little oasis of calm in the middle of the city. The bar staff are excellent, really friendly, it's just a nice place to take the wife and have a quiet drink even she says it's clean!
