About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Alchemist in Nottingham – it's one of those places that really knows how to put on a show with its inventive cocktails and scrumptious food, making it a top pick for a fun night out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around, the drinks are a highlight, packed with that promised theatre and drama, and the grub like the Spicy Chicken or Katsu Curry gets rave reviews for being spot-on and well-presented. The interior's got that stylish edge that sets the mood just right, whether you're popping in for a casual drink or celebrating something special. But, and there's always a but, it's not all perfect – prices can sting a bit, so it's worth keeping an eye on your wallet if you're not in for a treat. Plus, service might not always live up to the hype; some have found it a touch lacking in friendliness or explanations, and the atmosphere can be surprisingly quiet during off-peak hours, which might not suit everyone. All in all, it's a solid choice for a memorable evening, but go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a whale of a time.
Pros and Cons

The atmosphere is stylish and atmospheric, with a cool vibe that makes it a brilliant spot for a relaxed evening or a special occasion.
-
Service can be lovely when it's on form, with attentive staff who go the extra mile to make your visit enjoyable.
Cons
-
Service isn't always consistent; some folks have mentioned it lacking a bit of warmth or explanation for the cocktails, which can dampen the experience.
-
It's on the pricey side, so you might end up spending more than expected, especially for something like breakfast.
-
The place can feel a tad quiet at certain times, and there are occasional niggles like a dead plant that could use some attention.

Felt disappointed with the service ... not much explanation of the cocktails we had ordered ... whilst there was dry ice ... felt like they still were missing something for the promised theatre/drama. I had booked a table and pre advised of a 21st birthday, too. Dead plant right in entrance, long wait to get the bill and broken card machine. Underwhelming ... but has potential being in such an iconic building. We will definitely try somewhere else next time.
I can't recommend this place enough! The food and drinks were absolutely spot on – everything from the Prawn Lollipops to the Lobster Mac was top-notch. Sarah, our server, was a gem, super attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was just right, making it a perfect evening out. Can't wait to come back!
Me and my boyfriend and I recently visited The Alchemist in Nottingham and had a really enjoyable time. The interior is super stylish and atmospheric, with a cool vibe that adds to the whole experience. The toilets were surprisingly nice too — clean and well-kept, which is always appreciated.
We tried a variety of small plates; the food was okay overall — decent, but nothing that particularly stood out. However, the drinks menu made up for it. There was a great choice of cocktails, and many of them were really creative and fun to try. The staff were lovely as well — really attentive and friendly throughout our visit, which made the evening even better. We didn't take many pictures.
I would definitely return in the future.
I just had an incredible meal with friends! The food was absolutely spot-on—from the Spicy Chicken to the Katsu Curry, everything was tasty and well-presented. Sarah's service was lovely, making our experience even better. The cocktails were a highlight too, especially the Eureka Moment, which was perfectly theatre-served. Can't wait to come back!
Most expensive breakfast we have ever had but it was a treat for the newly brewed adult 😅 Bar staff could have been more friendly & inviting. Atmosphere: VERY quiet at breakfast time. This is the 2nd time we have been for breakfast with a Mad Hatter and there has only ever been 1 other table in there. Food was absolutely gorgeous though as was the drink that my teenage daughter refused & forced me to drink instead 😅 she enjoyed the drama of it though and that's what we went for 🤩
