About This Pub

Ah, if you're popping into Nottingham for a pint or a fancy cocktail, the Secret Garden is one of those spots that can really make your evening. It's got this enchanting outdoor feel, like stumbling upon a hidden gem tucked away, with twinkling lights and a relaxed buzz that draws you in. I love how they've sorted the heaters and covered spots, so even on a brisk February night, you can still cosy up without turning blue – it's clever, that. The drinks selection is spot on too, with plenty of options to suit all tastes, and those board games scattered about add a fun twist for a laugh with mates. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; I've heard from a few that the staff can be a bit off sometimes, coming across as rude or not quite attentive, which is a real shame when you're looking forward to a good time. The outdoor setup means you're at the mercy of the weather, and that booking malarkey with the prepaid tabs can feel a bit of a hassle if things don't go to plan. Still, if you time it right and the stars align, it's a cracking place for a chinwag and a drink, just keep an eye out for those potential pitfalls to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely charming, with a secret garden vibe that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up over drinks.
  • They've got brilliant heaters and covered areas, making it surprisingly cosy even on those chilly evenings in Nottingham.
  • There's a great selection of cocktails and drinks, plus fun touches like board games that really liven up a gathering.
  • When the staff are on form, they're welcoming and create a lovely, upbeat vibe that keeps everyone smiling.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit inconsistent; some folks have had experiences with rude or dismissive staff, which takes the shine off.
  • Being an outdoor-only spot, it's not ideal if the weather turns nasty – you might end up dodging rain or feeling the chill.
  • The booking system with prepaid bar tabs feels a tad rigid; it's non-refundable if plans change, which could be frustrating.
  • It sometimes feels understaffed, leading to waits or that sense of being overlooked when you're trying to enjoy your time.

We went here on midweek on a Tuesday and were very impressed with service, so much so that we decided to come back on the weekend. Unfortunately after our visit today our whole party felt like the staff were very rude and dismissive, providing very poor customer service. After this experience we will not be back which is a shame as the venue has a lot of potential.

went here for my friends birthday friday may 9th. they said that they would give her a free spin of the wheel and she won the £40 bar tab. when she tried to claim they said she couldn’t as the £5 to spin wasn’t paid. we offered to pay the £5 and they said no. the bartender wearing a head band was very rude to my friend who’s birthday it was and said we were ‘lucky’ for her to give us a few free shots. we were planning to stay much longer but after that experience left almost immediately.

The tall lad with the nice fade and the short girl behind the bar during Saturday daytime we're amazing. They seemed understaffed but kept on top everything and provided a sick atmosphere forgot both their names but thank you for a wonderful ray

Very nice spot for a drink, love coming here after work. They have great music and a great selection of drinks! The heaters are great so being outside in February didn’t bother us

Very cute place for either a coffee or drinks. There are board games around the tables which makes a friend gathering more fun. The staff is very kind and the ambiance pleasing.
