About This Pub

You know, I had a right good time at the Tap & Tumbler the other day, and it's just the sort of place that grabs you if you're mad about rock music and all that comes with it. The staff are brilliant, always on the ball and making sure everyone's sorted, even when things get hectic. You've got these fantastic deals on pints, like a Fosters for just £3.79, which makes it easy on the pocket for a few rounds with mates. The decor is spot on too, with loads of cool rock artwork and live tunes that really set the mood – it's ideal if you're gearing up for a gig at nearby Rock City. On the downside, it can feel a bit like an insiders' club; one person mentioned getting judged for not fitting the dress code, so if you're not in your rock attire, you might sense a few stares. Still, it's a solid choice for a fun evening, as long as you're up for that energetic, music-focused crowd – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a whale of a time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially if you're a fan of rock and metal music – it's got that lively vibe that makes you want to stay for another pint.
  • Friendly and efficient staff who handle the crowds like pros, ensuring you get served quickly even when it's packed.
  • Affordable drinks with great deals, like pints for under £4, making it a wallet-friendly spot for a night out.
  • Cool decor with amazing rock artwork and live music events that really add to the fun and character of the place.
  • Handy location right in the heart of Nottingham, near Rock City, perfect for a pre-gig catch-up or just soaking in the scene.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit cliquey if you're not into the rock crowd's style – you might get some odd looks if you don't dress the part, like in all black.
  • The place gets pretty crowded, especially before events, which might make it tricky to find a spot or get comfortable.
  • While it's great for music lovers, it might not appeal as much if you're after a more relaxed or varied vibe.

Service was amazing the gentleman behind the bar was so lovely but myself and my partner where judged on arrival by the clients there, we both enjoy rock and some screamo music but the moment we set foot inside we where eyeballed up and down because we didn't dress the same so if you go wear black

Great pub, fantastic pre concert atmosphere. Lots of like-minded people waiting for gig doors to open. Amazing rock pictures and artwork adorn the walls. Staff are friendly, and service is quick even when the bar is Jam packed. I will be returning for sure.

We went for the pinball and stayed for the music. Pinball- wrestlemania machine in relatively good working order. The balls went a little haywire during a multi ball and got jammed in the plunger chute. All the flippers and bumpers work. You can have a good game. Music - no idea what band we were listening to but they were excellent. If you're looking for a rock venue this is the only place you'll want to go. Seating is comfortable and people in the bar were friendly. Pricing is lower than we were expecting.

This pub has great character perfect for alternative rock/metal lovers! Great atmosphere on a Friday night. Amazing art inside and out. Lively band on also. Great service from staff who did a fantastic job of dealing with a huge rush of people piling in from Rock City post gig! 🖤🖤🖤
