About This Pub
Ah, Nauticus in Edinburgh – what a lovely spot it is, isn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about places like this, it's clear this pub really nails the essentials that make a night out special. The cocktails are a standout; they're not just your average drinks – think sharp, balanced creations made with heaps of Scottish flair, like something from a proper speakeasy. The team behind the bar are so approachable and efficient, always making you feel right at home, which adds that extra warmth to the experience. And the nautical theme? It's spot-on, with little historical touches that give the place real character without being over the top. On the flip side, though, it does have its quirks – like starting service late in the day, which might leave you hanging if you're up for an earlier tipple, and it's more about the drinks than a hearty meal, so you might want to plan accordingly. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up; the high praise from folks who've been there speaks volumes, and I'd say it's worth a visit for that authentic Scottish twist on a classic pub feel.

Cons
-
It doesn't open until around 4pm most days, which might not suit those looking for a spot for lunch or an early afternoon pint.

Among Best Speakeasy bars in Edinburgh. We stopped there after Britannia. We made a right choice. Cocktails were skillfully crafted and locally sourced. Great atmosphere with Nautical elements in the library. Everything you expect from a speakeasy! Bartenders are friendly and quick. Really enjoyable experience. Wish it was closer to Old town. It is a hike due to Leith location. But well worth it! Thank you. 🙏
Genuinely the most unusual cocktail menu I’ve seen! Really enjoyed how different the drink selection was. Very friendly staff.
Nauticus is the kind of place that reminds you how good a pub can be when the little things are done right. The cocktails are sharp, balanced, and made with real care — every glass feels deliberate, not just thrown together.
Matthew and Scott were our servers that night, and they were everything you hope for when you walk into a place: welcoming, professional, and tuned in without ever hovering. They know their drinks, they know their guests, and they move with the kind of quiet confidence that makes you feel like you're exactly where you should be.
The ambience was spot-on — lively but never loud, full of life without spilling into chaos. You could have a real conversation. You could relax. And when you see how clean the lavatories are, you know management cares. Because a clean bathroom means they respect every part of your experience, even the ones no one talks about.
What really stood out was the respect for their neighbours. No blasting music into the street, no shouting crowds outside. Just a team that knows they’re part of a bigger community — and acts like it.
Nauticus is what good hospitality looks like when you mean it.
My best Regards,
Until next time.
