About This Pub

Oh, the Swan & Bottle in Uxbridge is just that sort of place you'd want to pop into after a stroll along the canal – it's got this charming, country-style vibe dating back to the 17th century, making it feel properly welcoming and full of character. I have to say, the staff really stand out; they're so polite and helpful, always ready with a smile and quick to sort out things like allergies, which is brilliant if you're watching what you eat. The food's a real highlight too – fresh, hot dishes that taste homemade, whether it's the pan-fried chicken or a hearty Sunday roast, and at moderate prices that won't break the bank. Sitting outside overlooking the water is just magical on a sunny day, ideal for a lazy afternoon pint or catching up with friends. But, to be fair, it's not all perfect; you might find yourself waiting a bit for your meal to arrive, and there are small gripes like the toilets needing a bit more attention. Still, overall, it's a gem of a pub that does a lot right, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area – just maybe plan for a relaxed visit rather than rushing off somewhere.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is spot on – think delicious pub classics and seasonal specials that hit the spot, especially with options for dietary needs like allergies.
  • Prices are reasonable, particularly with the lunchtime menu, so it's a wallet-friendly choice for a good meal.
  • The outdoor seating by the canal is an absolute treat, perfect for a relaxing afternoon with a drink in hand.
  • It's a welcoming spot for groups or special occasions, with a cosy atmosphere that's great for catching up with mates.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, like waiting around for food to arrive, which might put a dampener on things.
  • There are a few minor niggles, such as the toilets not being quite up to scratch with a weak flush.
  • It can feel a tad quiet during off-peak hours, which might not suit those after a lively buzz.

After having an afternoon walk along the canal, popped in for a drink and crisps! Served by a lovely lady, friendly, and polite. Prices reasonable. Inside is nice and clean, plus toilets are ok, flush is a bit weak! We sat outside, lovely, clean area for you to sit, overlooking the canal.

First time here, what a brilliant example of how to do things right. Booked a large party for a birthday on a bank holiday as well, and pre ordered food which was fine. Everything came out together and every single person in our party remarked how amazing the food was. Absolutely fantastic service as well, faultless. Thanks to our servers Tom and Emma, who were calm, friendly and efficient. Top marks for the food as well, will definitely come back and I do recommend it 100%. Also great vegan options which is my personal interest, very varied and delicious!

Came here for lunch today and the food was lovely, although very slow to come out to us. We waited around 45 minutes. Definitely good to have the lunch time menu, makes it a bit more affordable. I had the pan fried chicken and it was so tasty. Staff are friendly and it’s generally a great pub! Thanks guys.

Lovely new menu. I am vegetarian with a nut allergy. The menu had lots of vegetarian choices that is nut free. Service was great, We went for lunch and it was a little quiet. But a great place for lunch to have a lovely catch with friends without being disturbed. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. There is a great lunch time menu, as well as a set menu and a full dinner menu
