About This Pub

Ah, the Sunbeam in Wolverhampton – it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a casual get-together. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the staff really go the extra mile; they're polite, quick to help, and make you feel like a regular even on your first visit. The food's a winner too – think fresh, flavoursome dishes like a perfectly crispy fish and chips or a mega breakfast that's great value, especially with those tempting £10 specials that let you tuck in without breaking the bank. It's got a welcoming family vibe, with handy amenities like disabled facilities and free WiFi, and its central location near the stations makes it dead easy to pop in after a day out. On the flip side, it can get a bit heaving during big events, so if you're hoping for a peaceful evening, you might want to time your visit right. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed meal or drink, and while it's not the most unique spot out there, the positives definitely outweigh the minor niggles – I'd say it's worth checking out for a proper pub experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you walk in.
  • The food is spot on, with tasty options like fish and chips or a hearty breakfast, and those £10 deals are a real bargain for a filling meal.
  • It's a family-friendly spot with great facilities, including disabled access and WiFi, perfect for a relaxed catch-up.
  • Smack in the heart of Wolverhampton, right by the train and bus stations, so it's super convenient for a quick stop or after shopping.
Cons
  • It can get a bit lively during events or match days, which might make it feel crowded if you're after a quiet pint.
  • Being part of a chain, it doesn't have that quirky, one-of-a-kind vibe some independent pubs offer, so it might feel a tad generic at times.

I came in today and was greeted and served by Chloe who was very friendly and polite. We had decided on breakfast and while we waited we had our coffees outside which were bought us! Chloe was exceptionally helpful letting us know when our food was ready so we could be seated beforehand and throughout the whole experience checking in and answering all our silly questions! Overall great experience would recommend and come back!

Popped here yesterday, totally forgetting it was a home football match but managed to grab a table for me and my little one. Great atmosphere with welcoming staff. I ordered through the app and drinks were brought following my meal swiftly after by the lovely Charlotte who was so polite and interacting with my daughter too making her smile, other customers make you feel welcome here. Nice community feel to it even through a match day. My meal was hot and flavorful. Different deals for each day. Recommend a visit when you're passing 👌

I recently visited this place and overall had a pleasant experience. I ordered the fish and chips, and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. The batter was perfectly crispy without being greasy, and the fish inside was fresh and flaky. It came with a generous portion of chips that were golden and nicely seasoned. Definitely a dish I’d come back for. I also tried the steak, which was unfortunately a bit of a letdown. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either. The flavor was decent, but the texture was quite tough, making it a bit difficult to enjoy. It just didn’t have that tenderness you’d expect from a good steak. That being said, the service really stood out. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional throughout the meal. They checked in at the right times and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Their warm attitude definitely made up for some of the food’s shortcomings.

Arrived on Thu night at around 8pm, the pub was quite quiet (only 2 other tables of customers). Had a short break for 40 mins before the nwxt train so want to eat something. The staff members are friend and my steak was available in about 15 mins. Tasty food, nice atmosphere and spacious pub! Recommended!
