About This Pub
Ah, the Duke of York – it's one of those pubs that really captures that classic British feel, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews and a bit of digging, it's got this great selection of real ales that are always in top form and won't break the bank, which is just brilliant for a casual catch-up with mates. The staff are genuinely welcoming, and the place is spotlessly clean, making it easy to settle in for the evening. Plus, there's a free jukebox with some cracking tunes, and it's ideal if you're keen on watching the footie or rugby on the telly. On the flip side, though, some of the regulars can be a bit odd, which might make you feel a tad uneasy if you're not in the mood for surprises. And watch out for the music – it can suddenly crank up and spoil the vibe. Overall, it's a solid choice for a pint in Wolverhampton, but it's worth popping in with an open mind to enjoy the good bits while steering clear of the quirks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The real ales are spot on – well-kept and reasonably priced, making it a top spot for a proper pint.
-
Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's kept nice and clean, with a traditional old-school vibe that's just charming.
-
Free jukebox with a good selection of tunes adds a fun touch to the evening.
-
Great for catching the sport on TV, so it's perfect if you're up for a match with a drink in hand.
Cons
-
Some of the locals can be a bit quirky or strange, which might put you off if you're after a quiet night.
-
The music can get awfully loud at times, turning a relaxed visit into something more chaotic.
-
Only one or two real ales on offer sometimes, which feels a tad limited for ale enthusiasts.
-
It might be tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area, tucked away as it is.

Good ale pub, although frequented by some strange locals...
Read the reviews and decided to pay it a visit.
Its an old school type pub in city centre. Having spoken to a few, non knew where it is but quite blatant when you know.
Just one real ale on, well kept and reasonably priced.
We really liked the jukebox, there are quieter rooms and areas for the miserables. One thing that stood out was the multiple skipping of records they dont like paid for by customers.
Of course we will be in again.
Albrecht found this Cask Marque pub. Two real ales. Had a pint of Holden's Golden Glow. Very good. L shaped pub with small rear courtyard. Left when awful loud music blared out
Can't comment on food as we popped in for a quick drink, nice and clean throughout. Not bad prices, more expensive than some but cheaper than many others. Barmaid was welcoming, customers friendly enough and free jukebox with a good selection of music.
The Duke of York is a traditional friendly pub. There is an extensive range of beers, lagers, and ciders, including four cask conditioned hand pulled real ales. The real ales were in excellent condition when we visited. It is a good place for watching Sport on the TV. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
