About This Pub
You know, chatting about the Sun pub feels like sharing tips with mates over a pint – it's got this lovely, homely feel that's been part of the community since 1886, with roasting chickens greeting you as you walk in and a menu packed with fresh, locally brewed beers, cocktails, and hearty grub. What really shines is the service; the team are absolute stars, making sure everything from a quick snack to a full event runs smoothly, and it's spot on for groups or a relaxed meal outdoors. On the flip side, there have been a few grumbles about food not always being spot-on, like a steak that came out overdone or a burger that was a bit dry, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're fussy about your order. All in all, it's a solid spot for a good laugh and a bite, with plenty of positives that make it worth a visit, but just go in with realistic expectations for a balanced experience.

There can be the odd kitchen mishap, like an overcooked steak or a sauce that doesn't quite live up to expectations, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
-
Some reviews mentioned certain dishes feeling a tad dry or not hitting the mark, so it might not be flawless every time you visit.

We came in for early dinner on National Fish and Chip Day and had a fabulous fish, chips and mushy peas! Delish! The service from Hannah was outstanding - friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Such a lovely pub. Would defo recommend.
Ordered a medium steak, and it got well done. That should be enough on its own. The peppercorn sauce was meaty thick and nothing like what I have come to expect.
That's the end of the complaining. The Service is first rate and the staff are warm and friendly.
Had a party for my mum and couldn’t have asked for better. The food was amazing lots of people said how lovely It was. The room was the perfect size, all staff were very helpful. Hannah in particular couldn’t do enough to assist me beforehand and was amazing on the night.
Excellent value for money, bar area clean, tidy and professional staff.
Myself and partner popped in for a couple of drinks and while there decided to have some of the Nasho’s as a snack. Oh wow they were incredible and would highly recommend. Looking forward to returning to try out more of the menu
We ordered curry katsu, chicken wings, and a gluten-free burger for the main. They taste delicious, gluten free burger a bit dry.
The food came quickly, and the dessert menu has a lot of options! We had sticky toffee pudding, and an apple crumble with custard and cheesecake. All of them are 5 star! Highly recommend, and I like it is not over sweet, another plus!
