About This Pub

Ah, Sullivan's Bar – it's one of those neighbourhood gems in Blackpool that really shines with its friendly staff and that inviting outdoor area, ideal for a sunny afternoon pint or a casual evening catch-up. I love how they're so accommodating, whether it's bringing drinks to your table or being great with families and even dogs; it's those little touches that make it feel like a proper local haunt. The music's spot on too, suiting all sorts without overwhelming the chat. On the flip side, though, it can come across as a tad exclusive if you're not part of the regular crowd – one person shared how it felt unwelcoming as a gay couple, which is a real pity in such a vibrant town. And if you're after real ale, you might be out of luck, as it's not on the menu. Overall, it's worth popping in for a try, but go with an open mind and see if it suits your style; it's got plenty going for it, but like any pub, it's not perfect for all.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and provide top-notch service, making you feel right at home.
  • It's got a lovely outdoor drinking area at the back, perfect for enjoying a drink in the fresh air.
  • The bar is dog-friendly and has good music that caters to all tastes, making it a relaxed spot to unwind.
  • They seem welcoming to families, with the owner going out of their way to interact positively with kids.
  • The drinks are well-kept, offering a crisp and enjoyable experience without any nasty aftertastes.
Cons
  • It can feel a bit cliquey, with regulars knowing each other and the staff, which might make newcomers uncomfortable.
  • As a gay couple mentioned, it doesn't always feel inclusive, which is a shame in a place like Blackpool.
  • There's no real ale on offer, which could disappoint those who fancy a traditional pint.

Only been in once and it felt so uncomfortable, you can tell the locals who are clearly in there most days because they all know each other and the staff. Felt so looked down on and judged as soon as me and my wife walked in. As a gay couple we always feel welcome in Blackpool bars but not this one! Full of middle aged white men who are very intimidating to new, non local guest wanting to spend their money. Won’t be visiting again!

Great little bar, lovely owner who was great with my little boy 😌 it always nice when people interact with kids instead of get annoyed with them! Clearly looks after the business well as the beer I had tasted lovely and crisp, no bitter aftertaste. Great place to meet up for some drinks and nice and clean and modern inside too. Plays some cracking music! Will definately be back soon to enjoy more drinks I'm sure 😊🙏🎉
