About This Pub
Ah, Station Tavern – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a reliable old friend in Cambridge, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats, the food really steals the show; imagine tucking into a brilliant roast beef dinner or a flavoursome sandwich that leaves you wanting more, all served up with care. The staff are genuinely warm and attentive, which is lovely for most, but it can tip into being a bit too much if you're hoping for a quiet pint without interruptions. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance – lively enough to buzz but calm for a good natter, with decor that's proper inviting. On the downside, while most dishes hit the mark, there have been a few slips like a risotto that didn't quite land, so it's worth keeping that in mind. Overall, it's a solid spot for a meal and a drink, especially if you're nearby, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for a balanced pub experience with its highs and the odd quirk.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The food is absolutely spot on – from scrumptious roasts and sandwiches to creative options like the Gochujang sausage roll, it's a real treat for the taste buds.
-
Staff are super friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and making you feel welcome, which really adds to the experience.
-
The atmosphere is just lovely – lively yet calm with beautiful decor, perfect for a relaxed catch-up or a quick stop.
-
They've got a fantastic range of drinks, including plenty of low and no-alcohol choices, so there's something for everyone.
-
It's conveniently located near the station, making it an easy spot to pop into for a bite or a drink without any hassle.
Cons
-
Service can feel a bit too attentive at times, with staff checking in frequently, which might put some off if you're after a more laid-back vibe.
-
Not every dish is perfect; for instance, the crab risotto came across as too sour for one visitor, so it pays to choose carefully.

We went on Sunday for the roast beef dinner. It was amazing we could not fault it at all right down to the gravy. When we visit Cambridge we will definitely come back here for food. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.
Lovely lively yet calm atmosphere, incredible food and kind staff - a special mention to my server Monet! I had the rubin sandwich with a 0% Asahi (though there was a fantastic range of other low and no alcohol options). Having eaten the Station Tavern’s rubin, you’ll never feel you have to go all the way to New York to get a proper one!
Really nice pub with really tasty food, personally found the server to be a little too pushy for my liking. Came over too many times to ask if we wanted more sides, drinks and desserts. Too attentive for my taste but may suit others. Food choice was the right amount on the menu and delicious especially the dish I chose as pictured. Very convenient if you need to grab a bite to eat whilst waiting for a connecting train as directly outside the train station.
Very friendly staff, nice food, beautiful decor.
Gochujang sausage roll is interesting. Not much gochujang flavors but well seasoned otherwise. Appreciated the 316 calories.
Sunday roast looks lit!
Well this was nice. Good quick service. Good cocktails. The peach starter very good. The crab risotto …. Hmmmm . Too sour. But a nice restaurant while waiting for train
