About This Pub
Ah, the Old Ticket Office – what a gem tucked away at Cambridge Railway Station! I've got to say, it's one of those places that just warms you up from the moment you step in. The beer selection is a real highlight; they've got this tempting array of craft brews and ciders that cater to all tastes, and I love the idea of grabbing a can to go with their new machine – it's clever and adds a fun twist. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making you feel right at home, whether you're there for a quick coffee or to watch the footy. That outdoor patio is brilliant on a sunny day, perfect for unwinding with a spritz or sandwich, and it's such a handy spot if you're waiting for a train. On the flip side, though, the station location means it can get a bit chaotic with the noise and crowds, especially during rush hours, and you might find it a squeeze if it's busy. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening or casual meet-up – I'd pop in again in a heartbeat for the vibes and that top service.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely brilliant, with a fantastic range of craft beers, ciders, and even options to take away – perfect for a quick pint or stocking up.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive; it's like chatting with mates behind the bar, making every visit feel welcoming and personal.
-
The atmosphere is spot on, especially the outdoor area on sunny days or during big matches – great for people-watching or soaking up the vibe at the station.
-
They've got tasty food options like those delicious sandwiches and fresh coffee, which hit the spot whether you're grabbing a bite before a train or settling in for a session.
-
It's conveniently located right at Cambridge Railway Station, making it an ideal spot to meet up, wait for delayed trains, or just enjoy a relaxed afternoon.
Cons
-
Being in the station, it can get a bit noisy with all the hustle and bustle of trains and commuters, which might disrupt a quiet chat.
-
The space can feel a tad cramped during busy times, so you might have to queue or struggle to find a seat if it's packed.
-
While the beer range is good, some might wish for more local craft options to really showcase the area, as one regular mentioned.
-
Opening hours seem to vary a bit, especially on Sundays, which could catch you out if you're planning a visit outside the typical times.

My favorite pub in central Cambridge with a great beer selection and very friendly staff. It’s great for people watching, or see a match of football or rugby during major tournaments, or just to sit outside.
The staff are incredible, selection of beer is great. Special mention to the GOATs Josh and Margo.
The sandwiches are amazing, love the outside area, great ambience, especially in a sunny day, (although they have heaters anyway for the cold ones). Special thanks to Josh who served us our drinks today, amazing service.
Most lovely train station pub ever! Staff are wonderful, was served by 2 young chaps, Josh and Will, both were attentive and very kind! Didn't eat myself but the sandwiches others were eating did look and smell very nice.
Hands down one of the best places to grab a beer in the city. The staff exude confidence, style and knowledge. The perfect package! A buoyant atmosphere with a solid mix of locals and passersby Solid beer selection although I would love some more local crafty pales. Decent range of snacks. If I could frequent more I would. Couldn’t recommend any higher!
