About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about St Andrews Brew House – it's one of those places in Norwich that really pulls you in with its own micro-brewery churning out some cracking beers, like their hoppy IPAs or fruity ales that just hit the spot on a lazy afternoon. I love how it's right in the city centre, making it super convenient for a spontaneous meal or to catch up with mates over a pint. They've got this warm, relaxed feel that's perfect for unwinding, and the upstairs function rooms are a real bonus for events, with board games adding a fun twist to gatherings. From what I've seen in the reviews, it's spot on for bigger dos like weddings, where the food comes out piping hot and they handle different preferences without a fuss. But, and I have to be straight with you, it's not all smooth sailing – some folks have had a rough time with service, like waiting ages for their grub or getting plates without the essentials, which can put a damper on things. Then there's the food itself; it's got potential with those unusual options, but it can be hit or miss, with complaints about overcooked bits or tiny portions that leave you wanting more. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after good beer and a lively spot, but maybe keep expectations in check for the finer details, and it's worth checking how busy it is before heading in for a bite.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beers are absolutely spot on – they've got a fantastic range of brews made right on-site, from zesty lagers to rich porters, perfect for a proper pint session.
  • It's got a really relaxed and welcoming vibe, especially in the heart of Norwich, making it ideal for popping in for a meal or just watching the world go by.
  • They do a great job with events and functions; it's brilliant for weddings or parties, with spacious rooms upstairs that even have classic board games to keep things fun.
  • The food can be a treat when it's good, offering some unusual dishes and handling large groups well, like ensuring everything comes out hot and accommodating different dietary needs.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit inconsistent at times, with some folks mentioning long waits for food or staff dashing off without the basics like cutlery or napkins.
  • The food quality isn't always reliable – a few have said portions are small or dishes come out overcooked, and not everyone finishes their meal, which is a shame.
  • It might not be the best for a quick bite, as waits can drag on, especially if the place is busy, leaving you a tad frustrated after a long day.

It's a pub where you can pop in for a meal without booking. The menu has unusual foods. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere in central Norwich. When the Halls' renovation is finished it will be a very attractive venue.

Three tables seated in the dining room ,only one served before us ,waited for 30 minutes before the food came .The waiter placed the food and walked off leaving no cutlery or napkins. The chips where over cooked the burger was tiny and over cooked. We work in the playhouse and come to Norwich regularly from London , seriously you need to up your game £50 for two pints and two burger and chips ????.We where going to be late so went elsewhere we where received our food in 10 minutes ,piping hot and £10 cheeper. We used to dine here all the time ,we will never return and finally would have been nice to have had a sorry before our refund.

We had our wedding meal here and it was perfect. We hired the tank room and the locker room with the bar upstairs. Our guests ordered from the normal menu- everyone loved their food and all meals came hot which was great when cooking for just over 30 people. They were great accommodating different dietary requirements. Laura was fantastic and made sure everything went smoothly. The table was laid out beautifully and everyone had a great time. Could not have asked for a better venue for our wedding as it was perfect. Would recommend to anyone thinking of booking an event here.

I gazed longingly at @standrewsbrewhouse one Saturday in September when I was a guest at a wedding at St Andrews church across the road. Unfortunately the wedding reception wasn't in the brew house so on that occasion I was denied a pint. However, I resolved to visit upon my return to Norwich. And opportunity presented itself when a job I was doing in Great Yarmouth finished a little earlier than expected. I got myself a train ticket and headed over to St Andrews Brew House to sample their home brewed beers. Seeing that they had a NEIPA on offer I jumped at the chance and was rewarded by fresh apricot aromas and muted grass and pepper notes and ever such a tiny hint of bitterness at the end, reminiscent of blood orange. This was 'Pacifica' - a beer well worth drinking. However, if that wouldn't have been your bag, there were so many other options from the great and good of UK beer as well as plenty of other St Andrews options. As you can see, the decor is on point and there are plenty of cosy books and spaces for different sized groups to get together and chill out. I didn't get a decent photo but as with any good taproom the brewing equipment was on show and part of the experience. I must advise that if you have a train to catch not to tarry too long - I was saved by my train being delayed! #taproom #uktaproom #norfolkbeer #brewerytap #brewerytaproom #craftbeer #realale #ukbeer #ukcraftbeer

The overall atmosphere was very good. The food taste I’d say mediocre. Service was alright. I had the Squid it was good. My colleagues had other stuff which I was told, not great. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ which 5 of them didn’t finish their meal 😵‍💫 I finished mine-ish. But I will still say it is good.
