About This Pub

Ah, The Playhouse Bar – it's one of those places in Norwich that just hits the spot for a casual get-together. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this really inviting vibe, whether you're soaking up the sun in the outdoor area or settling in inside. The staff are brilliant, always up for a chat and dishing out top recommendations for drinks, which makes the whole experience feel personal and fun. Plus, the drink selection is spot on, with loads of local options and a solid food menu for when you fancy a bite. On the flip side, it does tend to get heaving, particularly on sunny days, so you might find yourself waiting a tad longer for service, which can be a bit frustrating if you're in a rush. Overall, it's a gem for anyone looking for a relaxed afternoon or evening out, but I'd say it's best visited when you're not in a hurry – just go with the flow and enjoy the buzz!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely lovely, especially when you're sitting outside on a sunny day – it's perfect for a relaxing pint and some good chats.
  • The staff are super friendly and always ready with recommendations for drinks, making you feel right at home.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, including local ales, craft beers, and cocktails, plus an extensive menu of bar snacks and light meals to keep things tasty.
  • It's a welcoming spot for pre-theatre drinks or just unwinding, with both indoor and outdoor areas that add to the positive vibe.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, especially on nice days, which sometimes means the service slows down a bit and you might have to wait.
  • While it's open late, the buzz from the crowds might not suit everyone if you're after a quiet, low-key evening.

Lovely place to have a drink, has a really nice atmosphere particularly when you sit outside. The man who served us was very friendly and gave us lots of recommendations for drinks.

It's one of my favourites on a sunny day, but it does get really busy. So service can be a bit slow. Nice garden to enjoy the sun with a pint or two.

The Playhouse Bar has a more modern and stylish atmosphere than The Ribs of Beef, but it still has a friendly and welcoming vibe. The bar has a wide selection of drinks, including local ales, craft beers, and cocktails. The food menu is also extensive, with a variety of bar snacks and light meals.
