About This Pub
You know, when you're scouting for a good pub in Walsall, Soho Tavern really hits the mark for a solid evening out. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a standout – people can't stop going on about the boneless grill and those chilli cheese chips, all packed with flavour and just what you'd hope for from a grill place. The service is spot on too; the team there seem genuinely welcoming and make sure everything runs smoothly. It's also nice to see they've got plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices, which adds a thoughtful touch if you're dining with a mixed group. The decor gives it a cosy, inviting feel that makes you want to linger over a drink. On the flip side, though, some folks reckon the spices in the curries are a bit overpowering and everything ends up tasting similar, so it might not suit if you're after something more subtle. And, let's be honest, finding a parking spot can be a hassle when things get lively. All in all, it's a worthwhile stop for a relaxed meal with friends, as long as you go in with your eyes open to the quirks – a proper balanced spot in my book!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious grills, chilli cheese chips, and that rainbow rum punch that's a real crowd-pleaser.
-
The staff are so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
The decor is lovely and welcoming, giving the place a really nice, cosy atmosphere.
-
They've got brilliant options for veggies and vegans, which is great if you're after something a bit more inclusive.
-
Prices are reasonable, so you can enjoy a proper meal without it costing a fortune.
Cons
-
Some of the curries have an overpowering spice that can be a bit too much for certain tastes, making them feel a tad uniform.
-
There's not a huge variety in the sauces for some dishes, which might leave you wanting more diversity in flavours.
-
Parking can be a right faff when it's busy, as there are only a few spaces available.

Food and drinks were absolutely amazing.
We had the boneless grill, regular grill and the chilli cheese chips - everything was perfect, food was how you expected it to be and tasted unreal!
The rainbow rum punch is a must! So good!
Inderjit was lovely - thank you for your service.
I’ve given this place multiple chances, but it’s just not my cup of tea. The overpowering, almost perfumey spice they use in every curry is off putting and completely dominates the dish.
It’s the same sauce for every curry, just with a different name, and that lack of variety makes everything taste one dimensional. This seems to be a common trend in lower end restaurants like this, as well as many local takeaways and bar and grill type spots, and it really ruins the meal for me.
While some high end places manage to avoid this and deliver a more balanced, authentic flavour, this one unfortunately doesn’t. As someone who knows proper Punjabi food, I can honestly say an authentic Punjabi who knows his food wouldn’t enjoy this at all. Those who will settle for anything probably will.
It’s a shame, but that one overwhelming horrible spice and same sauce approach just spoils the whole experience. I won’t be ordering or visiting again.
First visit here and the food was fantastic. Full of flavour and delightful! The Mongolian chicken was different but however I loved it! Also the other dishes were tasty too including the famous chilli chips. Lovely decor too so definitely worth a visit ☺️ Also staff were attentive and friendly 💫
First time visit to the walsall branch. Nothing less then what you see at all the other branches. Great customer service, very clean, food was out of this world. A WHOLE menu for vegan/veggies. The new vegan fish is out of this world. Reasonably priced. The decor is stunning. Cant wait to go back.
Lovely food, excellent service. It was early when we visited, we managed to get onto car park. Can't see getting a space when busy as it only accommodates a few spaces.
Nice welcome... will definitely recommend it to family and friends. I'm looking forward to returning.
