About This Pub

You know, when I think about Six Barrel Drafthouse, it just brings a smile – it's one of those places that feels like a proper local gem in the heart of Nottingham. They've nailed the drinks side of things with an impressive lineup of craft beers and ales that really hit the spot, whether you're after something light and sessionable or a bit more flavoursome. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making everyone feel welcome, which makes the atmosphere so inviting; it's not stuffy at all, just a nice, easy-going spot where you can relax on that cool roof terrace or join in on a Wednesday quiz for a laugh. It's conveniently tucked near the university and shopping centre, so it's spot on for a quick stop after wandering around. On the downside, though, the closing times can be a tad disappointing if you're hoping for a longer evening out, and it does get a bit packed at times, which might put you off if you're after somewhere quieter. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a good beer and good company – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as it's got that genuine, homely feel without trying too hard.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of craft beers and drinks, like those refreshing IPAs and lagers from breweries such as Lagunitas and Tiny Rebel – always a treat for beer enthusiasts
  • Friendly and welcoming staff who make you feel right at home, with special mentions for their wholesome service and even quiz nights that add a fun twist
  • Lovely roof terrace that's perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a quiet chat, especially with its unique graffiti design
  • Great atmosphere in a relaxed setting, ideal for a casual catch-up near the bustling university and shopping areas
  • Convenient location in Nottingham city centre, making it easy to pop in after a day out, and they even offer breakfast on weekends
Cons
  • Closing times can feel a bit early, especially on some days when it wraps up around late afternoon or evening, which might not suit those after a proper late-night session
  • It can get quite busy in peak hours given its prime spot, so you might have to jostle for a seat or deal with a lively crowd
  • Food options don't get as much buzz in the chats, so while they do a full menu, it might not be the star of the show compared to the drinks

Always have a great selection of drinks. If you are inclined towards a good alcoholic beverage, then this is a must whilst in Nottingham. I always pay a visit when I'm in town due to its great atmosphere, excellent drink selection, and good facilities. Special mention to the terrace up top which is somehow always comfortable come sun, rain, warm , or cold. Also, I am really grateful to Joel today for the brilliant service, communication, and knowledge he demonstrated.

Wide selection of beers on taps and craft beer on cans. Didn't try any food though, but the atmosphere inside is nice.
