About This Pub
Ah, Sir Jack in Bramley – it's one of those pubs that really warms your heart when you step inside. Tucked away near Rotherham, it's got that classic Greene King charm with a carvery that's often hailed as the best around; imagine tucking into melt-in-the-mouth beef and perfectly crisp veg that leaves you smiling. The staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and quick to sort you out, whether you're there with a big group for a birthday bash or just nipping in for a quiet pint. It's brilliant for families too, with a soft play area that keeps the kids busy while you catch up with mates over a game on the telly. They've got a great setup for watching live sports, like the Women's Euros, in a cosy beer garden or inside with the buzz of the crowd. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – you might run into a hiccup with your order, like ending up with the wrong meal or dishes that lean a bit too heavily on certain sauces, which could put a dampener on things. Still, with its affordable prices and welcoming feel, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing, and I'd say it's worth giving it a go if you're in the area, as the good bits far outweigh the minor niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The carvery is absolutely spot on – fresh, hot, and full of flavour, with standout Yorkshire puds that make you want to come back for seconds.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, especially when handling large groups or events; it's like they're part of the fun.
-
It's a proper family-friendly spot with an indoor soft play area, perfect for keeping the little ones entertained while you relax.
-
Great atmosphere for watching live sports, with big screens and a cosy beer garden to enjoy the action in good company.
-
The place is clean and welcoming, making it a lovely spot to pop in for a meal or a drink any time of day.
Cons
-
There can be the odd mix-up with orders, like getting the wrong dish, which might leave you a bit disappointed despite the tasty desserts.
-
Some menu items come with sauces that aren't everyone's cup of tea, so it might not hit the mark if you're after something plain.
-
Experiences can vary between visits, so while one trip might be brilliant, another could fall a tad short on consistency.

Cook on the carvery was great, the sort of guy you can trust to cook you a dinner. Sometimes seeing the cook put you right off.
Great food first time I have had been at a carvery as normally it's too dry to bother with. Nice veg and great yorkshires. Fully enjoyed.
Ordered the katsu curry and got the beef pie, and when i got it tasted like the meat mangers done something to it, they redeemed them selfs with a lovely desert. Overall the meat manager done an awful job preparing my meat, I could have done better. The meat was quite something special, it came with a special sauce which tasted rather exotic. In an attempt to act tuff the meat manager failed to present thy self as a non-chalant individual which was not to my liking.
We had a coach of 40+, everyone’s food was amazing, staff service could not have been better, and the experience was second to none. Booked back in for 6 weeks time and can’t wait!!!
80th birthday for my mum. Had a nice Sunday afternoon. Great service. Food was good and arrived in good time and was hot. The place was full and very busy so we were pleased with the prompt service. The choice of menu is ok for a pub chain but a lot of dishes came with sweet chilli or BBQ sauce. Only 1 choice of salad dish which was slightly disappointing. Be good if more fish choices were available.
All in all very satisfied.
Thank you guys!
Now this is a tough review based on two visits.
First off the pub is lovely. Clean and inviting with friendly staff. On the first visit we had a carvery which was without doubt the BEST carvery I've ever had. Hot and fresh and the beef literally melted in the mouth.
Visit two we popped in for breakfast and my god it was vile! Tough sausages clearly reheated from the day before. Toast black on one side and white on the other. Bacon as tough as leather.
On balance the carvery was worthy of 5 stars but one deducted for the awful breakfast. Sort that and this is one of the best eateries around
