About This Pub

Ah, Simmons Bar in Kings Cross, what a gem it is for those evenings when you fancy something a bit different from the usual pub crawl. I've got to say, the happy hour is genuinely one of the best around – grabbing two cocktails for the price of one from 4pm onwards really makes it accessible, and specials like Margarita Mondays or Teapot Tuesdays add a cheeky twist that keeps things exciting. The place has this charming, eclectic feel with its brick-a-brack walls and basement full of retro games, making it feel like a hidden little adventure right in the heart of London. From what I've seen in the reviews, the staff can be absolute stars, crafting top-notch cocktails and creating a welcoming vibe that gets everyone in the mood for a good time. It's also brilliantly placed near the station, so it's easy to pop in after a long day. On the flip side, though, it's not all roses; there have been a few grumbles about dodgy pints, like one person getting flat beer and not getting much help from behind the bar, which could put a dampener on things if you're more of a beer enthusiast. And while it's great for evenings, starting at 4pm might not suit early birds. All in all, it's a place that does cocktails and atmosphere brilliantly but could do with tightening up on consistency – I'd recommend giving it a go, especially during happy hour, but keep your expectations balanced for a truly enjoyable visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The happy hour deals are an absolute winner – 2 for 1 on cocktails from 4pm to 9pm, Sunday to Friday, making it a brilliant spot for a cheeky midweek tipple without breaking the bank.
  • The atmosphere is spot on; it's got this quirky, off-kilter vibe with unique interiors and even retro games in the basement, turning a simple night out into something really memorable.
  • Staff can be fantastic when they're on form, like that bartender Skye who whips up amazing cocktails – it's those personal touches that make you feel right at home.
  • It's conveniently located just minutes from Kings Cross Station, perfect for a quick stop after work or before catching a train.
  • They've got great options for private hires and events, with spaces that can handle up to 400 people, ideal for birthdays or get-togethers.
Cons
  • Service can be hit or miss; one mate mentioned getting flat beer and the bar staff brushing it off, which is a bit of a downer when you're looking forward to a proper pint.
  • Some reviews suggest it might get a tad inconsistent, like with drink quality or perhaps getting a bit too busy, so you might not always have the best experience.
  • The opening hours start late at 4pm most days, which is fine if you're an evening person, but it could be a shame if you fancy a daytime drink.
  • While the cocktails are a highlight, a few folks have noted that the beer selection isn't always up to scratch, so it might not suit everyone.

I was served two flat beers so I asked if we could get something else. The bartender said the beer wasn’t flat, but that it just looked flat. As a regular beer drinker I can confirm it was the flattest beer I’ve ever had.

I have been there few days ago during the week and I spent great time there. The staffs and manager really nice.. I have mentioned them, probably I will come back regularly even I am not a vsr crawler. He encouraged me to come back on my day off what was on Friday (yesterday). So when I appeared, it seemed to be great vibe inside, nice music as usual, but my entrance has been denied by the doormen due the fact I came alone, and I am a single. No one asked me or searched me for drug or weapon, I was not drunk (obviously I came for few drinks) but the reason of denial is being a single. I am wondering if it was only applied for single men or women as well? Keep you updated about this.

I went to this pub with my friends. We all had free drinks (strawberry blonde) via the Dusk app and then different cocktails, and it was all good. Staff was friendly, the atmosphere was really good and colourful. Although it is a small place, the vibe somehow makes you feel like you're in a club, but you can easily have a chat with who is next to you also. I like the small, hidden local places in the King's Cross area, and this place is one of them.

Great place for drinks at great prices, especially during happy hour, which runs at some peak times as well (4-9pm Sunday to Friday)! Chose the Long Island Iced Tea in glasses and a teapot. A great touch! Very cool vibey place, with retro games on the basement floor. Only a 5 minute walk from King's Cross station. Not a place to go to for food though!
